SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

 Wear personal protective equipment when doing the practical work when in the lab
or workshop.
 Make sure to know the right and safe procedure any machine or tools before using
it.
 Switched off the machine power source when making the connection on the
machine.
 Ensure a safe clamping and decamping procedure for automatic system.
 Make sure the hydraulic components are in a good condition before used.
 Do not remove cylinders until the working units are resting on the ground or
securely on safety stands or blocks.
 Some hydraulic pumps and control valves are heavy. Before removing them, provide
a means of support such as a chain hoist, floor jack or blocks.
 Use goggle for eyes protection when handling the machine.
 Be careful for oil leakage near the machine, it will make the floor became wet and
slippery, as the result can cause an accident.
 When assembling the hydraulic parts, keep a distance between our face and the
hydraulic parts so that when the parts ricochet. For instance, the rubber hose won’t
hit our face when things go wrong.
 Make sure to use a suitable wires or cables when the wiring is made according to
length.
 Avoid the cable wires from getting tangled.
 After finished using the machine make sure to switch off the hydraulic pump and the
power source.
 Before leave, make sure the work area in a safe, clean and tidy state.
METHOD AND STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURE (S.O.P)

1) Use a unit of 4/3 way directional control valve, one control valve, double acting
cylinder, pressure gauge, and hydraulic motor. Then, clamped to the wire grid on the
work station.

2) After that, make sure the oil that remains inside all ports is released so that the
hydraulic hoses can fully plug in to the ports.

3) Use a suitable length of hydraulic hose and connect to the respective coupling end
between the hydraulic components according to the circuit that have been given.

4) Connect 1 units of pressure gauges to the inlet port and outlet ports of the
directional control valve respectively.

5) Make sure the hydraulic hose is connected correctly to the double acting cylinder
before switch on the machine, where port P to port A and port T to port B.

6) After all the hose has been connected, turn on the power source and switch on the
pump.

7) After the machine has turned on, Set the pressure using control valve to 10 bar and
by operating the hand lever of directional control valve the double acting cylinder
will extend and retract.

8) Then, record the time each of the distance piston movement when extract and
retract for 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm by using stop watch.

9) After finished the first task, off the machine and unplugged the hydraulic hose from
the double acting cylinder and connect it to the measuring flow rate cylinder.

10) Make sure the pressure is still the same from the first task that is 10 bar.

11) On the machine and record the time for filling the 1 litre on the measuring flow rate
cylinder by using stopwatch when the extending and retracting operation by using
the hand lever of directional control valve.

12) After finished the second task, off the machine and unplugged the hydraulic hose
from the measuring flow rate cylinder and connect it to the hydraulic motor for the
last task.
13) For the last task, make sure the pressure is set to 3 different bar for 3 different
speeds that is 10 bar, 15 bar, 20 bar.

14) On the machine and record the rpm from the hydraulic motor by using tacho meter
with 3 different bar.

15) Then, off the machine and when all the task has been done and dismantle all the
equipment or parts and put back to it place that have been take before.
