A. Company Data

1. Brief History/Background of the Company/Company Profile

• The story began when a young concrete inspector learned valuable insights of

what construction is all about-the planning, preparation, implementation, and the

systems involved and put up his own contracting company bearing his name,

DAVID CONSUNJI Civil Engineers and Contractors.

• Starting from constructing chicken houses for the Bureau of Animal Industry,

DMCI has earned a reputation for on schedule delivery and quality work. Since

major projects such as the Tacloban Coca Cola Plant and Bacnotan Cement Plant

were awarded.

B. Training Program

• THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN DMCI IS UNIQUE. YOU CANNOT STAY

AS LONG AS TWO WEEKS IN ONE DEPARTMENT. EVERY INTERN IN
DMCI IS MANDATORY TO MOVE FROM ONE DEPARTMENT TO
ANOTHER DISREGARDING YOUR COURSE. – THIS CREATES
POSSIBILITY AND FLEXIBILITY IN THE STUDENTS/INTERN/TRAINEE
TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE, NOT ONLY FOCUSING ON THEIR FIELD BUT
ALSO OPENING OPPORTUNITIES ON LEARNING HOW OTHER
DEPARTMENT OPERATES.

in CALAEX project will be built

FIELD DENSITY TEST

Is done because a particular density is required for
safety. Standards may be set by government agencies or
through internal policies, and testing may need to take
place before construction can proceed, and before
facilities are opened to the public, to reduce the risk of
safety problems.

-How an FDT machine operates

 Best experience in the Training/Job/Internship

-Witnessing heavy equipment being operated and supplier presentations

 Was the proposed program followed/completed? Why or why not?

- Sort of. Only few parts of the project relates to mechanical engineering but I

completed the required minimum of 250 OJT hours required by the University.

 Strong points versus weak points

Weak points:

- I’m not familiar with the work.

- I get easily confused when doing a task.

- Getting sleepy while doing a task

Strong points:

- Highly motivated to do the job.

- Willing to learn more than what they teach us.

- Always want to design technical and actual jobs.

- Always focus on learning the procedure and principles for the assigned job.

 The best experience on the job

- We are allowed to sleep in every break

- New acquaintance

- Gained new knowledge

2. Failures

• The failure in FDT

Suggested solution: Make the sand more compact before getting the FDT

• Safety abiding labors

Suggested solution: During operating time. Labors/workers that don’t follow

the safety guidelines should be confronted by the Kapatas/Foreman/Engineer

4. Personal relations: Integration with the company personnel

of Landmarks” and has been known to pioneer the applications of advanced

engineering technology in Philippine construction. Engr. David M. Consunji

founded DMCI on December 24, 1954 and the company celebrated its 50th

anniversary two years ago in 2004.

E. Recommendations

1. Potential of company as a Training Ground

- DMCI’s capability of becoming a training ground is outstanding. They are hands

on to their intern in learning and the best part is the rotation of interns to different

departments for the trainee’s additional learning and knowledge

2. Duration of training (Too long or too Short)

- The duration of the training in D.M.Consuji Inc. depends on what is the required

OJT hour of the student, so the duration of training is too short and should be

extended from 250 hours to 300 hours just like in the other schools and universities

3. Suggestions for the improvement of the training program

- In school, they should ensure that the students must be well oriented about the

requirements and much better if they will be the one providing the companies

for the OJT.

-In D.M.Consuji Inc they should balance their attention from their busy work to

their OJTs.

4. Advise to future trainees to the company or to other companies in general

- Always pay attention, keep aside your worries and focus on your assigned task..

Develop a good relationship with the employees and personnel. Be humble and

feel like you’re also a regular employee. Have a good time and enjoy each day

of training.
