AIMS:
A) SPECIFIC AIMS: by the end of the lesson the Ss will be able to:
 recognize piece of furniture;
 answer simple questions;
 develop speaking and listening skills;
 follow instructions.

B) AFFECTIVE AIMS:
 to create a warm atmosphere in order to offer the background for
smooth, easy conversations between teacher and students;
 to have fun;
 to create interest in the topic.
ASSUMPTIONS:

The students may:


 be familiar with vocabulary related to the topic;
 have difficulty in pronouncing the words correctly;
 have difficulties in retaining all the new words;
 be noisy when solving the tasks or singing songs.

PROCEDURE

ACTIVITY 1: WARM-UP (2`)


Procedure: T enters the class, greets the Ss and Ss answer. T checks attendance.
Aims: -to assure the introductive part of the lesson;
- to revise greetings and motivate Ss for the revision song;
- to prepare children for the lesson;
- to break the ice;
- to make Ss feel comfortable in the class and relax them.

ACTIVITY 2: LEAD-IN (4`)


Procedure: T asks Ss if they can name some animals after their homes. Ss sing
the song “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” song
Aims: - to assure a proper transition between the moments of the lesson;
- to capture Ss’ interest and attention;
- to introduce vocabulary related to the topic;
- to familiarize Ss with the words.

ACTIVITY 3: HOUSE PICTURE (10`)


Procedure: T draws the shape of a house on the board than places images of
different rooms inside the house. Ss pay attention and repeat after T the names
of rooms. T elicits the purpose of the rooms and asks Ss to guess the name of
each room. T gives feedback.
Aims: - to have fun and relax;
- to check Ss’ visual skills;
- to present rooms in the house;
- to create a pleasant atmosphere;

ACTIVITY 4: PIECES OF FURNITURE (10’)


Procedure: T asks Ss to look for images of pieces of furniture hidden in the
classroom. Ss are then asked to bring the images to T. T counts the images with
the help of Ss. T asks Ss to name the proper room for each of the pieces of
furniture and then invites Ss to stick each image in the right place. T asks about
the place of each item and Ss answer. “Where is the…?/ In the…”.
Aims: - to put the Ss in touch with the topic;
- to make Ss attentive;
- to present pieces of furniture;
- to learn words related to the topic;
- to develop speaking and listening skills;
- to enrich Ss’ vocabulary.

ACTIVITY 5: HOME SWEET HOME SONG (8`)


Procedure: T asks Ss to watch the Home Sweet Home Song. Ss pay attention to
the video. When it finishes, T asks Ss to say the name of rooms mentioned in the
video. They are also asked questions using words from the song: ”Where is the
sofa I lie on?”; ”Where does mommy cook?”; “Where do I brush my teeth?”;
“Where do I go to sleep?”. T gives feedback.
Aims: - to have fun and relax;
- to check Ss’ visual skills;
- to present rooms in the house;
- to create a pleasant atmosphere;

ACTIVITY 5: IDENTIFY AND LABEL IT ( 8’)


Procedure: T divides Ss in five groups and gives each group images with pieces
of furniture and labels. In group, Ss identify the images and label each of them.
Members of each group are rewarded with stickers of different colour. T gives
feedback and may ask additional questions.
Aims: - to make Ss active;
- to verify the comprehension of the vocabulary;
- to consolidate the new acquired information;
- to create feedback

ACTIVITY 6: HOME SWEET HOME ORIGAMI (6`)


Procedure: T gives Ss sheets of paper to make a house by folding the paper. T
gives the instructions. Ss follow the instructions.
Aims: - to have fun and relax;
- to make Ss be creative;

Techniques: explanation
Interaction: T->S; S->T

ACTIVITY 7: EVALUATION (2`)


Procedure: T appreciates all the Ss and gives them applause
Aims: - to increase Ss` self confidence and encourage them in their study of
English;
- to give feedback to the class;
- to say how well the Ss performed the tasks
Interaction: T->Ss.

Extension:
T asks Ss to stand up sing and dance while listening to the song.
