Step by Step:
1. These are perfect for some ‘grown up’ Halloween décor and look great with battery operated lights in them. To add extra glow to
the middles, switch on your laminator and open up as many #4080 8 ½’’ x 11’’ hot pockets as lanterns you want to make. Fill them
with yellow alcohol ink (splatter it and wait, it does spread add more if needs be after that!) and when it is dry sprinkle with gold
glitter, close up the pocket and laminate. Switch off the machine.
2. Choose your papers from the Cosmo Cricket Haunted crafting kit to make your lanterns. I love the fact that the papers are double
sided so you get to see both sides showing on each lantern. On your combo trimmer cut a rectangle from each piece 11’’ wide x 8’’
tall.
3. Mark a rectangle within your cut piece of paper, ½’’ in from the edges so making a 7’’x10’’ rectangle.
4. Mark vertical parallel lines within the marked rectangle at ½’’ intervals then with a craft knife and metal ruler slice down each
line.
5. Trim the laminated pieces on your combo trimmer 11’’ wide x 7’’ tall and roll them into cylinders, overlapping by ½’’ on the join
and adhering it with strong wet glue. To make a squatter lantern as I have trim your laminate to 11’’ wide x 6’’ tall.
6. Apply wet glue along the bottom ½’’ border of your paper piece and stick along the bottom of your laminated cylinder.
7. Apply wet glue along the vertical join and stick together, this should mean that two cut strips overlap and are joined together
with the glue.
8. Apply wet glue round the top ½’’ border of the paper.
9. Push the paper down until it is level with the top of the laminated cylinder and hold in place until it is stuck.
10. Trim a 1’’ strip of the same paper as your lantern and make a handle. I flipped some of mine to add interest, curled the ends and
added brads through it either side before gluing in place.
11. As I said before they look great placed over battery operated tea tree
lights NEVER use real candles!!! They also look great along a string of fairy
lights when a bulb sits within the laminated cylinder. I think these would look
