Report Explanatory Notes
The informaon contained in this report is a summary of your child’s achievement. Wrien reports are provided twice a year in
addion to an interim report at the end of term one.
This report is one of a number of strategies used by the College to communicate with you about your child’s progress and
achievement, atude, behaviour and effort throughout the year.

Student Achievement
Informaon is provided on your child’s overall achievement for Course of Study Units using grades. The key descriptors for these
grades are broadly defined using the following key;
A: Excellent achievement
B: High achievement
C: Sasfactory achievement
D: Limited achievement
E: Unsasfactory achievement
N: Not graded (See Assessment Policy)
The grades reflected in your child’s report are indicators of their achievement against the standards and requirements outlined
in the “grade related descriptors” provided by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority.
You can ask the school to provide you with wrien informaon that shows your child’s achievements in the subjects studied in
comparison with that of other children in the child’s peer group at school. This informaon will show you the number of
students in each of the five achievement levels.
Year 11 Courses may be assessed across the enre year or as two separate units (semesters) – this is indicated in the comment;
where the course is assessed across the enre year, the grade indicated herein is a progress grade. Year 12 Courses are assessed
across the year, with one mark and grade being assigned for the year’s work. As such, this report indicates a progress grade and
mark for these courses.
Vocaonal (VET) subjects do not allocate grades; instead an indicaon is given as to how students are progressing in terms of
meeng competency for their qualificaon’s Units of Competency through the comment provided.

Comments
The comments provide informaon about your child’s progress and areas for improvement. If you would like to speak to any
teacher about the comments or results of your child, please phone the College on (08) 9583 7000.
