Intermediate 1 – Revision Sheet – Unit 1

Outcome 1

1. 16% of £48.50 = £7.76

2. 17.5% of £256.88 = £44.954

Total Cost = £256.88 + £44.954 = £301.834 = £301.83 (to the nearest penny)

3. (a) 67 x 5 = 335 miles = 340 miles (to the nearest 10)

(b) There are 60 seconds in a minutes so 6 x 15 bounces = 90 bounces in 1 minute

Outcome 2

4. Area of Triangle = ½bh = ½ x 9m x 4m = 18m2 (height of triangle = 6m – 2m = 4m)

Area of Rectangle = lb = 9m x 2m = 18m2
Total Area = 18m2 + 18m2 = 36m2

5. Volume = l3 = 55cm x 55cm x 55cm = 166375cm3

6. Volume = lbh = 10m x 5m x 6m = 300m3

7. C = d =  x 15m = 47.1m2

8. A= r2 =  x 90cm x 90cm = 25446.9 (or 25434 if you use 3.14 for )

Outcome 3

9. 5h – 2w = 5 x 6 – 2 x 4 = 30 – 8 = 22

10. Day Hire = 2 x £32 = £64

Mileage = 250 x £0.08 = £20
Total Cost = £64 + £20 = £84

11. P = VI  P = 24 x 3 = 72

Outcome 4

12. Time and a Half = 1.5 x £5.20 = £7.80 per hour or £5.20  2 = £2.60 + £5.20 = £7.80
Total Pay = £7.80 x 23 = £179.40

13. Deposit = £90

Instalments = 12 x £27 = £324
Total = £90 + £324 = £414

14. Foreign Currency = Exchange rate x £’s Sterling = 1.61 x £670 = 1078.70 dollars
