The major difference between the RAM and Hard Drive of the computer is the

RAM (Random Access Memory) is a temporary storage while the hard drive is the
permanent computer storage, allowing you to store data for a very long time.
RAM is a kind of storage that requires electricity to keep information, making this
a volatile memory. All data in the RAM is lost if there is no power. It also does not
allow you to store personal data. It is used for storage of computer data. It reads
and writes data and will continue to save memory unless the system shuts down.
The hard drive is a predictable memory that allows you to store and erase data.
The hard drive doesn’t clear during and after usage. The RAM clears itself after a
program has been used or the system has been reset.
When it comes to the memory capacity, the hard drive picks up where the RAM
stops. The hard drive size is always bigger than RAM. The RAM does not allow you
to attach external RAM if you are running short of RAM. The hard drive lets you
add an external drive to improve disk space or can choose to change it out
entirely and add a higher capacity one.
The primary purposes of RAM is to speed up your computer’s performance. Your
system will perform slower when its RAM is limited. The ultimate purpose of the
hard disk is for storage of information. Anytime there are tasks performed the
CPU will send program instructions and data to and from the RAM. All user data
will be transferred to the hard drive. The memory in use during an operation is
from RAM because the RAM is faster than the hard drive. Data from the hard
drive is transferred to RAM to ensure the CPU only deals with the fasted access of
data possible.
There are a couple different types of hard drives as well. First being, the
conventional hard drive, sometimes called a “disk-type” hard drive. This drive is
made up of a stack of magnetic disks that spin at a very high rate of speed. They
are sensitive to physical shock, vibration, magnetic fields and orientation. You
then have Solid-State Hard drives (SSD). SSD drives have no disks, heads,
actuators or other moving parts. They store data on microchips utilizing NAND-
based flash memory, which is the same technology used for USB drives and
memory cards for cameras and other devices.
When is comes to cost here are some examples of price per GB.
Samsung has a 1TB SSD 970 Pro for $499.99 making this unit $0.49 per GB.
Intel has 480GB SSD for $419.99 equaling $0.87 per GB.
Crucial has 250GB SSD for $72.99 totaling $0.29 per GB.
Western Digital has 12TB HDD for $473.99 totaling $0.039 per GB and last I found
Seagate offers 8TB for $224.99 totaling $0.028 per GB.
