and subsidiaries, all years combined) must
be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for Gener-
al/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50
percent or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD
category applicants.
For Candidates with letter grades/CGPA
(rather than percent of marks), the equiv-
alence in percent of marks will be deter-
mined by the Admitting Institute(s).
Proof of having passed the Qualifying

because the majority of the communi-
cation might also be sent via SMS. The
password which the candidate provides
should be selected such that it can’t be
guessed easily by other people and this
password should not be forgotten by
the candidate since he/she will need it
to login to the online application site.
Upon successful registration, an E-mail
comprising candidate Enrolment ID
will be sent to the E-mail address given
by the candidate. The Enrolment ID will
also be sent to the mobile number given
by the candidate. The candidate should
utilize this enrolment ID together with
the password to get all JAM 2019 relat-
ed communications or site operations.
Candidates are advised to maintain
the ID together with the password in-
formation confidential and safe.
JOAPS Offers an online interface to the
candidate for interacting with all the JAM
Administration. With this interface, a can-

The number of word count required for scien-

use fillers. Fillers are apparently meaningless

next words to say such as “umm”, “uh” or

er Institute is the sponsor and the administra-
tive home department for each Miller Fellow
who is hosted by an academic department
on the Berkeley campus. All research is per-
formed in the facilities provided by the host
UC Berkeley academic department(s).
Qualifications:
Miller Research Fellowships are intend-
ed for exceptional young scientists of great
promise who have recently been awarded,
or who are about to be awarded the doctor-
al degree. Normally, Miller Fellows are ex-
pected to begin their Fellowship shortly after
being awarded their PhD. A short period as a
post-doctoral fellow elsewhere does not ex-
clude eligibility. However, candidates who
have already completed substantial postdoc-
toral training are unlikely to be successful
except in unusual circumstances. Postdocs
cannot have had more than two years of post-
doctoral experience from other institutions,
nor been employed as an assistant professor,
associate professor or professor, in order to
be eligible. Per the terms of the gift estab-
lishing the Institute, a nominee cannot hold a
paid or unpaid position on the Berkeley cam-
pus at the time of nomination or throughout
the competition and award cycle, which can
run into February.
Nominees who are non-US citizens must
show eligibility for obtaining J-1 Scholar
visa status for the duration of the Miller Fel-
lowship.

The Miller Institute does not support H1B
visa status. The Fellowship term must com-
mence between July 1 and September 1,
2019. Eligible nominees will be invited

Terms of Appointment
• Miller Fellowships are granted for a peri-
od of three years, generally beginning August
1 and ending on July 31. Starting dates are
negotiable but must commence between July
1 and September 1.
• The Institute provides a stipend of $65,000
with annual increases on subsequent anniver-
sary dates. This stipend is not to be construed
as salary for teaching or for duties rendered
to the University of California. Miller Fel-
lows also receive a research fund of $10,000
per annum to be used in support of research
during the Miller Fellowship, for a total com-
pensation package of $75,000.
• Miller Fellows are entitled to all normal
holidays observed by the University and are
granted an annual bank of 24 days of per-
sonal time off. Personal time does not carry
forward.
• Twelve days of sick leave are granted an-
nually.
• There is provision for travel to (but not
away from) Berkeley for Miller Fellows and
their immediate families. An additional al-
lowance of $3,000 is allowed for the trans-
port of personal belongings.
• Benefits including medical, dental, vi-
sion, short term disability and life insurance
are provided, with Miller Fellows making
a small contribution towards the premium.
Long term disability is voluntary.
• All University of California postdocs are
exclusively represented by the UAW and are
subject to the terms of the contract including
payment of membership dues or agency fees.
• Approximately eight to ten Fellowships
are awarded each year.
• Candidates will be notified of the results
of the competition between mid-December
and mid-February, and a general announce-
ment of the awards will be made in the spring.

search scientists who can attest to the scien-
tific potential of the Miller Fellow candidate.
Nominations are accepted from individuals
at institutions around the world, and are not
limited to faculty at the University of Cali-
fornia. Nominations cannot be made by an
individual candidate, a student or a postdoc.

a desire to participate in the Miller Institute

couraged scientists wanting to pursue post-
doctoral research at a world-class scientific
environment. The most successful fellows

for ICGEB Early Career Research Grants to
encourage their own research programmes as
young PIs upon return to an ICGEB Member
State.
To Apply:
Applicants must contact the ICGEB Group
Leader/PI of their choice with a motivation

and also to specify the research project pro-

The aim of the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards
and Cambridge International Scholarships
is to ensure that the 250 highest ranked stu-
dents, irrespective of nationality, receive full
financial support to undertake research lead-
ing to a PhD. The Scholarships pay the Uni-
versity Composition Fee and a maintenance
allowance sufficient for a single person.
Applicants who wish to start their PhDs in
2019-20 must apply by either the 5 December
2018 or 3 January 2019, whichever deadline

A University Committee draws up one
ranked list of all PhD candidates across all
disciplines. The only factors taken into con-
sideration in agreeing with this list are aca-
demic qualifications, references and research
potential. The financial situation of appli-
cants does not affect the selection of schol-
arship winners.
Successful applicants are informed at the
earliest opportunity and the Trust will an-
nounce the winners of the Cambridge Inter-
national Scholarships for 2019-20, and the
winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for
that year, in early March 2019.
In order to maximise the number of Schol-
arships awarded, the Trust will, when appro-
priate, promote winners of Vice-Chancellor’s
Awards and Cambridge International Schol-
arships to other full-cost awards with UK Re-
search Councils, or partner organisations, or
Departments or Colleges, who are willing to
provide either the full amount or part of the

About The BSAC Research Grants: The
BSAC invites applications for Research grants in
an international/worldwide basis.The highest val-
ue for these grants is 50,000 for projects up to one

Each year that the BSAC generally awards
1- two large grants in this category.
Application Procedure: Applications received
within this class are subject to some four-step
review procedure as follows: 1) an initial triage
procedure, 2) an outside peer review process, 3) a
final triage procedure; and 4) final review from the

The BSAC Grants Terms & Conditions:
The Terms and Conditions for all BSAC Grants
and Scholarships are published on the BSAC
site at BSAC T&Cs/SOPS. The applicant and
host institute must browse the terms and con-
ditions prior to completing an application form.
Applicants are expected to submit a signed
copy of the BSAC Terms and Conditions form,
submitting this with their application form.
Written Reports: Successful applicants need to
submit a written report on the conclusion of the
project, utilizing the BSAC report form on top of
this page. The report form Ought to Be submitted
to BSAC Grants via email at grants@bsac.org.uk
Applicants that have completed a report on
their Institute for this grant may also include
this with the finished BSAC report form.
Reports must include the following advice
based on your project:
A summary of the goals and objectives of
the project:
1.Broad findings or conclusions
(maximum 2x A4 pages)
2.Any publications arising from the project:
a listing of any publications arising from the
study completed (Because of BSAC funds re-
ceived)
3.Contain details of any articles That Have
been approved, or are intended for publica-
tion within the next 24 months as a result
of BSAC funding obtained (please provide
some concrete or provisional publication

Any other outputs arising from the project:

Any remaining funds in hand should be re-
turned to the Society instantly or should you
want to continue to draw on those funds for
a limited period after the close of the award
(no cost extension applies), you need to write
with details about when and how the money
will be utilized.
Payment / Claiming Funds: Payment will
be made directly to the host institution, who
will oversee the grant on behalf of the lead
applicant. Payment is made upon receipt
of an official invoice from the Secretary/Fi-
nance Officer of the Institution in which the
applicant is based. Funds could be claimed
in advance or in arrears on a quarterly basis.
