after cleaning by steam blowing

General
Traditionally flanged valves were dominant on the market,
and therefore it was no problem to install temporary piping
for steam blowing.

Today most medium and high pressure valves are provided

with welded connections for cost effectiveness and technical
advantages.

As a result, the valve must remain unwelded while the tempo-

rary piping is welded to the upstream piping for the purpose
of steam blowing. After steam blowing, the temporary piping
must be cut off and the weld ends of the piping prepared on
site to allow welding of the valve.

This procedure will result in a high risk of leaving debris in

the line with a subsequent risk of damage to the downstream
equipment. It will also add both cost and time for the installa- Fig 1 Blow Through Tool
tion.

Solution offered by CCI - the Blow Through Tool - ensures

that installation of the valve can be done in the fastest and target in the outlet of the pipe is used to check that the pipe

performed at a lower pressure than normal. which is the normal dynamic pressure that will transport
particles during normal operation.
The most common criteria for sufficient steam blow used
world-wide, is the steam flow amount that will create a During steam blowing the steam dynamic pressure must be

Technical data
The tools are designed and calculated to withstand 30 bar and
425°C. Certificates for material and non-destructive material
testing are not included, since there is normally no valve
installed downstream.

If certificates for material and non-destructive test are

required, this must be specified by the customer.
