Justice for Families Batterer

Accountability Training
This tuition free training focuses on a system-wide approach to shifting the burden of holding offenders
accountable from the victim to the community. The training will be conducted by Marcus Bruning, a
certified Federal Law Enforcement Training Center specialist. The trainings will include information
on the dynamics of domestic violence, high-risk indicators to homicide with special emphasis on
strangulation, investigative techniques, including arrest decisions and report writing, strategies for
enhanced coordination between law enforcement and other service providing agencies, and trauma-
informed victim interviewing.
Presenter Bio: Retired, Marcus Bruning is nationally recognized as an expert on law enforcement
response to intimate partner abuse, sexual assault and stalking. Major Bruning also provides training
services as a Contract Instructor for Praxis International, Minnesota Program Development Inc., The
Gender Violence Institute, The National Sheriff’s Association and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
