specified below.

Test pieces complying with BS.970 shall give the following properties:-

Limiting ruling section 10 - 50 mm (3/8" - 2")

QUALITY

a) Material shall comply with the quality requirements of BS.970.

b) Material shall meet all quality notes on the relevant component drawings.
c) Material shall be in bright bar form free from scale, piping, segregation, inclusions
and other defects detrimental to machineability, performance or processing (incl.
induction hardening).
d) Maximum allowable decarburisation depth to be no greater than 1.5% of the
section diameter.
e) Material shall be free from surface cracking as determined by a non-destructive
testing method agreed between Holset and the Supplier.
f) The material shall not be in a magnetised condition, with a maximum response of +5
gauss.
g) Suppliers shall furnish with each shipment a test certificate showing the results of
the analytical and mechanical tests specified above. This report shall also include:-
Purchase order number, quantity material specification, part number and the
identification number.
h) All material shall be clearly tallied with the identification number referred to in (g)
above.
