Expectations
• Be respectful to your classmates, friends and teachers.
• Attendance: Students are expected to arrive on time to the class. To be successful in academic
and professional endeavors students must learn to be punctual. It will be your responsibility to
make up for missed work that results from unexcused tardiness or absence.
• Cell Phones: Cell Phones are not allowed during class time unless directed by the teacher. Cell
phones should remain inside bags all the time. If found outside, it will be confiscated, till the end
of the class period or would be sent to grade level office and it will remain there for the rest of
the school day.
• Academic misconduct (cheating, plagiarizing, copying) will not be permitted. If you cheat on an
assignment, you will receive a permanent zero on that assignment and will not be allowed to
make it up. There will also be disciplinary consequences.
• Classwork – Classwork including maintaining a notebook for classwork will be assessed
periodically. So organize and maintain your work.
• Grading Policies- If you do not show signs of participation, which includes following instructions,
writing class notes, taking active roles in group activities, and doing class work when it is
assigned, it may affect grades. The expectation is that the students be active and engaged
during the class hour all the time. If you are not feeling well on a certain day and cannot
participate, you can come and talk to me about it before the class begins or send me an email.
• Test corrections are possible but students have to demonstrate that they got the concepts by
identifying their mistakes and correcting them using the form given on my website. Additionally,
you will need to take time to meet with me to explain the mistakes to me in person. This will
need to be done within a week of receiving the tests back. I do not collect the test corrections.
You can earn some of the lost points depending on if you are able to explain to me well or not.
• Late work - Work must be turned in the day it is due to receive full credit. Late work will be
accepted within a reasonable time frame for reduced points. Late work will not be accepted for
credit after the marking period is over. If you are absent and excused, turn in your work on the
day that you return. If you were unable to do your work while absent (for example, you were in
the hospital), then you will have extra time to finish your assignments. If you have a prolonged
absence, and you or a parent can contact me by email. If you are absent the day of a test or
quiz, you are responsible for arranging a make-up time with me. Keep me informed so I can
work with you.
• Student’s responsibility – Each student is responsible for his/her actions. Each student is
responsible for maintaining their Class notes, Lab notes and all other assignments. Each
student should monitor his or her progress in Power School.
• Teacher’s responsibility – I will provide a safe learning environment to all my students. I will
provide students with resources that help them succeed as learners.
