Students should know that we all have bones in our body.

Subject areas are visual learning to understand, show, and identify where the bones are in our body.

Students will be able to list some facts about the bones, why we have bones, and why they are
important.

Lesson Procedures
Time Step By Step Lesson Procedures Pre-planned Seed
Questions
1. Ask students, “Why do we have bones?” Write their responses
on the board.
2. Teacher manipulates a puppet, and drops its string. Teacher
asks, “Why won’t the puppet stand up on its own?” Wait for
responses.
3. Read “Skeleton Inside You.”
4. Teacher asks students same question about the puppet, and
students should answer correctly that the puppet has no bones.
5. Display to students what a skeleton looks like. Teacher tells
students how many bones we have, the largest bone, and the
smallest.
6. Give the students a copy of the bones to color and cut out.
After they have finished have them glue the bones to their body
cut out.

Relevance / Rationale
The outcome of this lesson for the students is to know why we have bones and that we need
to take care of our body to keep our bones healthy and strong
Exploration / Extension / Supplemental
Exploration- play interactive games on internet. Extension- Use one-on-one time, give better
examples other than the puppet. Supplemental- Read Magic school bus: Inside the Body.
Assessment Criteria For Success
Teacher observation of students correct responses during team quiz game.
Differentiation (Danielson, 1c, 3e )
Spend one-on-one time with student. Use repetition, so that they can remember and have a
better understanding.

1. How well were the Overview and the Objectives met? What data do you have to
support that claim?
2. Identify two elements of instruction that went well. Give direct teaching evidence to
