1.0 PURPOSE
This method statement covers for the execution of steel piling works and installation of
precast wall panels for the proposed temporary beaching area.

7.0 METHODOLOGY
There are 100 pieces W10x33 by 12 meters long pile to be driven and 200 pieces
1.75 meters by 1.75 meters square with 0.10 meter thick precast wall panels to be
installed between these W10x33 driven piles, and serving as retaining wall for the
proposed beaching area. The starting point of the piling works will start near the
Tower 2 of the main bridge and moving away from it. The total pile line is
approximately 156 meters long with 1.80 meters interval each pile to be driven.
Below is the key plan as a guide for the sequence of piling works showing the starting
and end points.

The installation of steel piles and precast panels will follow the drawings and design.
However, small differences are expected in actual elevation of the seabed level due
to the density of the bathymetry. After placing of two precast panels of 1.75 meters
high each, survey will be done and made in measure panels will be precast to cover
the gap of seabed actual elevation and actual embedment of the panels within the
ground.
W10x33 by 12 meters long steel piles will be temporarily stored at the proposed
location of the batching plant area.
All steel piles shall be prepared at the staging/fabrication area prior to be transported
to the jobsite for installation. The following are the order of activities involve:

c) Welding of 2 numbers 10mm thick stiffener MS plate as per detail below. The
procedures will be the following:

Staking or setting out of steel pile locations of each steel pile will be a joint effort
with the CLJV survey and construction operation team. The installation should be
assisted by two professional divers.
Loading and setting the barge with the following and transporting from the jetty/dock
to the offshore site: Daily basis activity
CLJV survey team will locate the steel piles to be driven based its coordinates
with the aid of two professional driver. The steel pile driving shall begin at
the starting point near the Tower 2 of main bridge.
The two CLJV professional divers will aid to set the pile to its seabed location
as identified by CLJV survey team. Driving of the pile shall follow and driving

stops when the top of pile reaches +0.00 elevation or MSL. Between the
period of pile driving activity, pile verticality will be closely monitored by CLJV
construction team using aluminum bar level to make sure driven pile is
plumbed.
Each previously driven pile will serve as a guide for driving the next steel pile
using a fabricated metal template guide. The left leg of the template guide
will be inserted on the previously driven pile, then the next pile to be driven
will be inserted on the right leg and making sure that this aligns to the
desired pile alignment established by CLJV survey team based on the
drawing. To note each pile shall be driven until the top of pile reaches to
+0.00 elevation or MSL. See draft below.
The precast wall panels from the staging area will be transported to load on the
barge and this will be shipped to the proposed temporary beaching area site for
installation between the driven piles. Proposed target output is 10 panels per day.
The procedure below shall be followed:
a) 10 panels will be transported and loaded to the barge and ship to the
site each working day.

b) Securing, mooring, and anchoring the barge when arrived at site and
prior to installation.
c) The precast panels will be lifted from the barge and installed between
the driven piles using the crane at barge.
d) Once the installation of 10 panels have been accomplished, the team
with the barge may go back to the dock and prepare again for the next
day.
The above procedure and cycle applies until the precast wall panels installation is
completed.
7.2 Execution
The piling works shall be executed at optimum care and vigilant observance of the
safety precautionary measures for the workers involved and environmental
protection measures not to affect the marine creatures.
Piles shall be driven in accordance to the driven pile installation notes that states
“The steel piles shall be driven to achieve the minimum embedment required as
shown in the plan for lateral stability. In the event, that during driving it encounters
hard strata or rock formation before the required embedment is attain then the pile
shall be embedded for proper anchorage.”
Below is the proposed work programme for Steel Piling Works and Precast Wall Panels
Installation. There are 100 steel piles to be driven and this will be completed in 20
days. There are also 198 precast panels to be installed between driven piles.

CLJV subscribes to the principle that all accidents are preventable and the project
ethos that ¨NOBODY GETS HURT¨. Therefore, the following applies this stated
project but not limited to:
9.1 Induction
All labour/workers will attend a Site Safety Induction prior to work on the project.
CLJV will also hold internal inductions prior to work commencing. When particular
methods of work or additional hazards are identified for any particular locations,
additional inductions or
which shall be reviewed and checked by the CLJV HSE officer for their completeness
and accuracy. These are:

Correct types of PPE for all CLJV site employees shall be provided and worn as
required, they include:

A copy of this Method Statement will be retained on site for inspection and will be
briefed to all site personnel, by the CLJV authorized representative.

Fire extinguishers will be located at the steel fabrication area and first aid kits located
in the Site Cabin.
9.6 Security

CLJV is responsible for the quality of the work and compliance with the design, the
project specifications, this MS, work procedures and Inspection & Testing plan.
Quality Control
The CLJV QA/QC Supervisor shall do random check on material inspection certificate
supplied with the material for conformance with project requirements. Fabrication
works will be supervised as well by CLJV Site Engineers.
