A PERSONNEL. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SERVICE THE UPS YOURSELF.
2.2 Warranty
The PowerWAVE 2000 UPS is supplied with a limited warranty that the
UPS and its component parts are free from defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original
commissioning or fifteen months from the date of original delivery,
whichever is the sooner. This warranty is the only warranty given and no
other warranty, express or implied, is provided.
This warranty is invalidated if the UPS is put into use without having been
commissioned by a fully trained and authorised person (see .section 4. I).
This warranty does not apply to any losses or damages caused by misuse,
abuse, negligence, neglect, unauthorised repair or modification, incorrect
installation, inappropriate environment, accident, act of God or
inappropriate application.
If the UPS fails to conform to the above within the warranty period then
Uninterruptible Power Supplies Ltd. will, at its sole option, repair or
replace the UPS. All repaired or replaced parts will remain the property of
Uninterruptible Power Supplies Ltd.
The UPS may contain batteries which must be re-charged for a minimum
of 24 hours every six months to prevent deep-discharging. Batteries that
have been, for whatever reason, deep-discharged are not covered by the
warranty.
3.1.2 Nameplate
The technical specifications of the PowerWAVE 2000 are provided on the
nameplate which is situated at the rear of the UPS.
3.2 Unpacking
When unpacking the UPS observe the “FRAGILE” and “ARROW’
indications on the packing container.
Perform the following steps to unpack the UPS:
l Cut the wrappers and remove the packing container by pulling it
upwards
l Remove the plastic cover from the UPS
l Remove the UPS from the pallet
l Retain the packaging materials for future shipment of the UPS
l Examine the UPS for any sign of damage. Notify your supplier
immediately if damage is apparent.
3.4 Storage
If you plan to store the UPS prior to use, store it unpacked in a clean
environment with a temperature between +5’C to +40°C and humidity of
less than 90%.
If the packing container is removed, protect the UPS from dust.
The UPS is equipped with sealed, maintenance-free batteries, whose
storage capability depends on ambient temperature. It is therefore
important not to store the UPS longer than 6 months at 20°C, 3 months at
3O’C and 2 months at 35’C storage temperature without a battery recharge.
For longer term storage make sure that the battery is fully recharged every
6 months.
3.5 Positioning
The PowerWAVE 2000 is a compact and light UPS and can easily be
moved to its final position.
The UPS should be located where:
l Humidity and temperature are within prescribed limits;
l Fire protection standards are respected;
l Cabling can be performed easily;
l There is enough room to easily operate the UPS and to perform
periodic maintenance (See Figure 3.1).
3.6.1 Overview
The PowerWAVE 2000 UPS comes in three variants, namely:
l 4.5 or 6 kVA with single phase input.
l 4.5 or 6 kVA with three phase input.
l 7.5 or 10 kVA with three phase input.
Although similar methods are used to connect these units, separate,
detailed procedures and diagrams are provided in this section for each case.
Please read the following general information before advancing to the
required cabling procedure:
NOTE:
All standard Power WAVE 2000 models require only a single cable feed (for
rectifier and bypass). The 7.5 & 10kVA models can however be modified to
accept separate ‘rectifier’ and ‘bypass’ input supplies, each requiring a
separate circuit breaker at the L. V. distribution panel. Please contact
Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited if a dual-feed is required.
NOTE:
If a common distribution board is used (sockets for Mains and UPS
voltage), ensure that on each socket there is an indication of the
applied vo/tage (“Mains” or ‘UPS”).
5. The UPS output distribution system equipment must be properly
earthed in accordance with prescribed IEC Standards, or with the
local regulations.
When installing the UPS ensure that the following conditions apply
during all cabling operations:

4.2.1 Overview
All UPS user operations are carried out via the front-mounted control panel
illustrated in figure 4.1. The available commands are straightforward and
functional. By pressing the “Mode” button the user can choose between the
On-Line or Off-Line (also referred to as “line interactive” or “Econ”)
operating modes, test the battery and reset the alarms. In the event of an
alarm condition the ‘ALARM’ led illuminates and is accompanied by the
audible alarm.
The UPS operating status is indicated by means of the led indicators.
‘ON/OFF’ Switch
As its name suggests, the main ON/OFF switch is used by the operator to
turn on and turn off the UPS. The switch is mounted behind a hinged plastic
cover to prevent its accidental operation.
‘Mode’ push-button
This button is used to transfer the UPS between ‘ON LINE’ and ‘Line
Interactive’ operating modes. The selected operating mode will be
indicated by the corresponding LED-Indicator.
‘Battery Test’push-button
Pressing this button initiates the battery testing procedure, during which
period the green ‘On Test’ led will flash. If the battery test is successful, and
voltage remains within prescribed limits, the ‘On Test’ led will turn off
after approximately 2 minutes. If the battery voltage goes below a
prescribed minimum value the test will be interrupted and the red ‘Failure’
led will illuminate.
1. Make sure all connections (input and output cabling) have been
performed correctly (see Chapter 3).
2. Make sure all the loads are disconnected.
3. Close the input Line Fuses (Fl Rectifier-Line and F2 Bypass-Line for
‘dual feed’ models 7.5 and 1OkVA) upwards.
4. Make sure the UPS battery fuses are inserted correctly.
5. Close the battery fuse holder (F4) upwards.
6. Turn OFF the MAINTENANCE BYPASS on the rear of the UPS -to
position “0” (OFF).
7. Press the Main Red ON/OFF Switch on the Control Panel. After a
short time the UPS will start and the corresponding Control Panel led-
indicators will turn on.
8. It is recommended to transfer the UPS to the ON-LlNE-Mode
(INV. ON) for the highest degree of load protection):
9. Check the following led-indicators:
The ‘Line OK’ led is illuminated (green)
The ‘Battery Time’ led bar is illuminated (depending on charge)
‘INV’ and ‘BYPASS’ leds:
- If the ‘INV’ led is green and the ‘BYPASS’ is OFF, the UPS is
in the ON-LINE-Mode.
- If the ‘INV’ led is OFF and the ‘BYPASS’ is red, the UPS is in
the Line Interactive-Mode
10. The UPS is now operational and the load may be connected to the
UPS output.
11. Close load fuse F3 (7.5 and 10 kVA).
f
A AN AUTHORISED ELECTRICIAN OR BY QUALIFIED INTERNAL
PERSONNEL.
The UPS may be shutdown completely if the load does not require input
power for an extended period of time.
It may be switched to Maintenance Bypass mode for service or
maintenance purposes, or transferred to the Line Interactive mode if the
load doesn’t need the highest degree of protection.
The load may be disconnected by means of the ON/OFF (LOAD-OFF)
switch for security reasons.
