EDUHSDFA Executive Board Meeting

1. Call to order
a. Stephanie calls the meeting to order at 4:09pm
2. Officers’ Reports
a. Presidents:
i. Presidents’ email sent out last week with updates and reminders
1. Also posted on our website
ii. Stephanie and Jina will be attending the Board of Trustees meeting
tonight.
iii. 6 candidates are running for the 3 open EDUHSD Board of Trustees
positions.
iv. CTA new teachers’ conference
1. In Burlingame on March 8-10, 2019
2. For teachers in their first 3 years of teaching
3. Discount available for 5 of our members ($49 each)
v. Discussion of retroactive step increase issue
b. Secretary
i. Review of minutes from 8-7 meeting
1. Eric moves that we approve the minutes; motion approved.
ii. Website recently updated, but we need to upload photos
c. Treasurer
i. Our old treasurer’s computer died; Jina gave Marci a used
replacement, but we need to purchase a new version of Quickbooks
software.
d. Membership Chair
i. Still processing new hire membership forms; have processed ⅓ of new
members to date.
3. Old Business
a. New Hire Connections Update
i. Discussion of contact made with new hires at sites
b. By-Laws Template
i. Discussion of site rep ratio (20:1 or 25:1)
ii. Still awaiting report from CTA with suggested revisions
c. Audit review / decision
i. Last year’s audit report cost the association $3,300.
ii. Lance moves that we begin posting our Association’s operating
statement each month (website) and incorporate a monthly budget
review between Presidents and Treasurer in lieu of purchasing an
audit this year. Motion approved.
4. New Business
a. Bargaining Report - Erin Arthur
i. Erin and Jina met with Bob and Tony last week to discuss start of
bargaining process.
ii. Discussion of current arbitration procedure
iii. Discussion of contract articles open for bargaining, specific issues
related to each
iv. First official bargaining meeting is September 17th.
b. Know your contract: Article 13 - Evaluation Procedures
i. Will review and discuss at next meeting
ii. Goal-setting meetings should be set by September 1st
c. T-shirt reorder
i. Get sizes by next meeting
d. CTA New Teacher Conference
i. Tobias moves that we approve funds for five teachers to attend the
conference at $49 each, with refunds available before December 1st if
all spots are not filled. Motion approved.
e. New Quickbooks software
i. Jen moves that we approve the purchase of cloud-based Quickbooks
software. Motion approved.
