EYE PROTECTION CAMPAIGN REPORT

1. Objectives
Safety campaign is an effective way of sharing a message by providing sufficient
information that can inspire workers, educating them on safe practices and essentially
motivating those to ensure health and safety are implemented in every area of work. This
campaign focuses on eye protection whereas many scope of job in PESB yard cannot be
separated by hazard such as unsafe condition (dust, smoke, chemical, etc.) and unsafe act
that lead to accident. Purposes of this campaign to promote safety practices related to eye
protection that can be adopted by workers to prevent accident in the future.

2. Safety Campaign Program

Safety campaign will be carried out in June-July 2018 and to make it run effectively, some
programs are arranged, as mentioned below:
a. Daily Tool Box Talk
Toolbox Talk will address issues and give specific details that provide a clear
understanding on the safest manner in which to use a machine, tool or perform a
particular task related to eye protection. Toolbox talk will be carried out in the morning
before start the job by each group of work.
b. PPE Inspection
To make sure all workers follow the standard of using PPE through inspection,
inspection is very important as PPE can become damaged or lose its effectiveness, due to
general wear and tear, misuse and exposure to dirt, grit, or chemicals.
c. Eyewash inspection
Exposure to metal dust or hazardous substance would be critical. Delaying treatment,
even for a few seconds, may cause serious injury. Eyewash stations provide on-the-spot
decontamination. It allows workers to flush away metal dust or hazardous substance that
can cause injury. To ensure that eyewash stations are always ready when needed,
inspection will be carried out by paramedic and housekeeping team.

d. Safety Mock Up
Safety mock up aims to provide workers with knowledge and skills to perform their
work in a way that is safe for them and their co-workers. This mock up is related to
grinding and how to use PPE. By using grinding machine, some hazard will be generated
during the process such as machine faulty, electrical hazard, misuse of equipment, bad
method, dust contact, etc. on the other hand, workers must understand how to use PPE
correctly especially face and eye protection so that it could give the best protection for
employee when contact to hazard. Safety mock up basically give understanding to
workers to work safely and how to identify and control hazard, and to prevent all
workers from accident.
e. HSE Awareness Board
A safety bulletin board is a way of communicating safety required information and other
safety related materials.

Safety Campaign related to eye protection ended on 30th July 2018 which all activity was
successfully carried out, target of this activity is to prevent accident related to eye injury.
Based on data form in-house clinic there is no medical treatment or first aid case related
to eye injury for June-July 2018. In addition, through this campaign some improvements
are made by review result of inspection such as improving stock PPE and provide proper
PPE to workers. Based on data weekly management walk down from January 2018- May
2018, there are 2 cases related to PPE and 7 Cases related unsafe behavior compare to
data weekly management walk down from June 2018-July 2018 where there is 1 case
related to PPE and no case related to unsafe behavior. By carrying out this campaign, the
is decreasing cases related to PPE and unsafe behavior and overall this campaign
successfully fulfill its purpose.
