Topic 2 – The Important Concepts in Agriculture

A. Objectives:

At the end of this module, the students will be able to:

1. To outline the scope of Agriculturalism
2. To value the impact of Agriculture as entrepreneur
3. To apply the concepts learned in entrepreneurship

B. Primer Question:
What is the impact of the increasing prices of the agricultural products in the Philippines? Provide a
concrete example. (See attached activity Template)

C. Lesson Proper:

Previously, we have tackled about the meaning of agriculture and agricultural entrepreneurship.
We also discussed the agricultural set-up and some challenges faced by the Philippines. We have
seen some statistical figures based on secondary data provided by the government as regards to
where we were at in our agricultural development. It was well noted that the problems encountered
in the past can still be seen nowadays. There were various laws passed promoting the agriculture
and fisheries to push economic development.

Now, we will dig deeper into the important concepts in agricultural entrepreneurship. We shall
see together the whole picture of agriculturalism and it impacts in the lives of human beings. Upon
reading this material, have in mind a keen eye on opportunities that we can get as students of
entrepreneurship and soon to be entrepreneurs. Perhaps, you will think of the questions hows, the
whys and the whats of this module for us, entrep students:

What can I do to address this area of agriculture?

How can I help ease the lives of the farmers?

What are the factors affecting agricultural activities and how can I offer solutions?
