Capital letters
It is important when we are going to write a sentence or a
paragraph to remember that there are certain rules that we need
to follow. The first thing that you need to consider it is that there
are certain words that always need to be capitalized. Example:
I will travel to Japan with Monica and my brother.
Rules:
1. The beginning of a sentence and after quotation marks.
My car is big and my house is small.
Peter said: “Students were punctual.”
2. The pronoun “I” is always going to be capitalize.
Clara and I did the homework.
My sister needed to go to the mall so I took her in my car.
3. The name and title of people.
I went to see Doctor Luis because my son, Tomas, was feeling bad.
4. Titles of books, poems, songs, plays, films etc.
Next month I will see a movie about the famous book “The Merchant of
Venice”.
5. Holidays, months and days of the week.
In December, I will visit my grandparents during Christmas time and we will
go skiing on Sunday.
6. Countries, continents, regions, states, districts, cities, towns and villages.
I am from Colombia but I have lived in Canada for ten years.
7. Geographical formations, rivers, oceans, seas and lakes.
My family went to the Sahara last month and we swam in the Nile.
8. Language, nationalities and religion.
My best friend is Brazilian and he speaks English very well.
9. Streets, buildings, monuments and parks.
My friends and I spend a lot of time in Central Park.
10. Abbreviations and acronyms.

11. Trade-marks and names of companies and other organizations.
My uncle is an engineer and he works for Microsoft Corporation.
12. Names of vehicles like ships, trains and spacecraft.
