“Summer is gone”... It is now time
to get the Club ready for winter.
Very soon hauling will begin, with
much work to be done. Building
& Grounds has the task of putting
away all outside furniture etc.
All this requires Volunteers.
On the business side of the Club, it is also a busy
time. Annual Finance meeting, Election of Life
Members and of course Election of Officers and
Board Members. Now is the time to put your name

A Word From Our New Marina Chairman
As the 2010 boating season starts to wind down and I look
out over our Marina, I see our Members and their families
trying to get in that last great day out on the water. One
more perfect day in that cove with family and friends; one
last tuna trip or to catch that great big bass or bluefish. I see
kids and adults looking for blue crabs on a piling or under
the docks. We really have to appreciate what we have! From
our inception 110 years ago to now we have come a long
way! We are all members of a club that has been created and
maintained by loyal and dedicated members for 110 years.
There have been many renovations to the Clubhouse and
Marina through the years, and we have invested in Ten rental
homes. Our Commodores, Board and Committees have
done an incredible job! Take a look at what Volunteers and
dedication has created!!!
I was recently appointed Marina Chairman of the South
Norwalk Boat, and I consider it a true honor to be selected
to look over your Marina. I have some very large shoes
to fill of our Past Chairmen and most recently in Captain
Hans Van der Giessen and Assistant Chairman Captain John
Restivo. Hats off to you both of you for a job well done!
I have chosen Captain Stanley Sikorski to be my Assistant,
anyone who knows Stan knows he will be on top of things.
I feel Stan will do a great job! Also on the Committee will

be Captains John Bove, Anthony Taccone, William Skidd
Jr., Ed Lisowski and both Past Chairmen Hans Van der
Giessen and Captain John Restivo will serve as advisors to
the committee.. Past Commodore Ward Evarts when he’s
around will be hauling and launching. We will be available
to conduct Marina business on most Monday evenings and
Saturday mornings before 10:00am, so if you have any issue
or concerns please come down to the Club and meet with
one of our Committee Members then.
I hate to talk about it but we have set our haul out dates as
follows:
October 9th we will our early haul i.e.: Snowbirds, etc.
October 23rd and 24th will be our Major hauling dates.
Plan on being there these first 2 days, If you can’t make it
please appoint someone to be there for you!
October 30th will be the “last” day of hauling! After that
we will be winterizing all of our equipment and the entire
Marina.
Anyone who is staying in the water and needs a short haul,
please schedule it before and NOT ON any of these dates!
Please come on down and volunteer.

2010 Capt. Larry “Pop” Ferraro Memorial Fishing Tournament

& Junior Fish Pool Standings
This year the annual Children’s
Snapper Tournament got off
to a rough start. First, Capt.
Larry Ferraro, known to
everyone as “Pop” passed away
earlier this summer. He was
a loyal and familiar volunteer
at the tournament since it’s
inception and he had watched
two generations fish off the
SNBC docks. He will be greatly
missed by many. The SNBC
membership voted to re-name the Snapper Tournament
the “Capt. Larry “Pop” Ferraro Memorial Fishing
Tournament” in his honor, I’m sure he would be proud.
Next, we postponed the tournament by 6 days 2010 JUNIOR FISH POOL WINNERS
due to poor weather. In the face of these challenges,

we still had 80 member’s children and grandchildren
come out to fish this year and the weather was great! 1st Austin Getner 15 lbs.
A wonderful time was had by everyone who attended and

age categories, and the 2010 Junior fish pool winners were BLUEFISH
