Dear Sister,
It been a long time, and I apologize for not writing a letter to you as soon as I reached here. I
hope all my remittances have been received by Mom and Dad. If not please tell me, I will tell my
agents to work on it as quick as they can. However, after failing 20 startups in India, and having
a successful first startup in San Francisco, I got over involved in the workflow of the US. It’s
been really hectic here for the past 6 months with the unstoppable flow of work and software
development. After finally bringing my company in momentum, I can sit down and write a letter
to you. I wish you should also join me in San Francisco, since its filled with opportunities and
companies main motive is to sell groceries to our customers after buying them from the stores
on order. The customers order from an app on their mobile phones which is available across all
platforms like Alexa, and the Google assistant. We list their requirements and that gets sent to
an employee who then buys them from a store and delivers it to their customers. We are
currently only in San Francisco, however we will increase our involvement internationally to
places like Australia, places in europe and we are currently working towards moving it to parts
of India too. However, by my past experiences of investing in India I think it might not be the
for me. There are way too many rules to follow and
hard to adjust to the society, and to learn the rules and regulations of India. There is not much
my decision of coming back to the US to start my business is a good idea. It is much easier to
launch a company in the US since there are simple rules, a clear set of instructions, not much
bribery and an infinite amount of opportunities. All of these factors have pushed me from India
to the US. I believe that India is turning from an LEDC to an NIC, and it is harder for new
companies to grow themselves into bigger companies, because of the large amount of illiteracy
and not an adequate amount of skilled labour it was hard for me to start my own company. On
the other hand, entrepreneurship is really undervalued, and really unstable in India. Some of the
advantages India is facing is the decrease of overpopulation from the country, since many
people are moving to other countries. A disadvantage India is having from me leaving is that the
skilled youth of India are moving to aid another countries economy and not their own. This are
the reasons why I left India and came to the US. On the other hand, my business plan was not
adequate and society accepting for the nationals for India. Since, the people might just save
some money and go buy their rather than spend more and chill in their houses. However, in the
US there are working couples, with some lazy people who can’t or don’t want to waste their time

shopping for groceries; and would rather prefer spending more money than doing more work.
That is what my company takes profit of, and that is how we help both our customers and our
selves. However, this seems to not be the same story with people in India.
Now, that I am here in the US, I think that I am using my time wisely in what is important, and
not in what is not important. I don't spend my time circling the desks of corruption and bribery. In
the US, there are loads of opportunities and people who are passionate about creating a
company and welcoming new business men. I think I have assimilated to the US society really
fast due to the accepting society here. I have also got a naturalised certificate faster and without
much back and forth to the office. I can also say that many people in the US are not
In conclusion I think that India might be a really good place to launch startups in the future but
right now in its transition period it is hard to do so. Do to the lack of opportunities, and unstable
startups I think that investing in the US or even in London will be a great idea for entrepreneurs.
That being said, the US is a better investing point for new entrepreneurs than in india, however
if a company is developed and well known it is a good idea to invest in India. I hope you can get
back to me as soon as possible, and also tell me about you decision on moving to the US
Take Care,
Satyam
