1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to propose a solution to incorporate SCTP in Open

diameter stack. A feasibility analysis is provided here which helps in taking decision to use
FSS SCTP stack in open diameter.

4. Introduction

Open Diameter stack is a freeware which provides the AAA functionality. Open Diameter stack
uses open source third party libraries like ACE, xerce and boost which provides APIs for Network
connectivity, XML parsing and general AVP parsing respectively.
The current version of ACE library uses TCP as the underlying network layer protocol. As per the
open diameter specification, SCTP is the preferred protocol. so the effort is required to be made
to make the ACE Library worked with SCTP Stack.
