1. Describe and explain Fitts' Law. How does Fitts' Law change for different physical selection
devices, such as a 3-button mouse, a touchpad, or a pen/stylus? (You'll need to do some
research for this.)
Answer :
Fitts' law states that the amount of time required for a person to move a pointer (e.g., mouse
cursor) to a target area is a function of the distance to the target divided by the size of the target.
Thus, the longer the distance and the smaller the target’s size, the longer it takes.
Fitt's Law change different physical selection devices cause their relationship between size, time
and distance must be indicated or expressed. That the time and distance are descriptions of target
and they should be able to explain the constants are there to calibrate for selection devices.
2. Pick a couple of computer input devices (at least 3 devices) that you are aware of (joystick,
light pen, touchscreen, trackball, eyegaze, dataglove, etc.) and note down how each has
different attributes that support certain forms of interaction. You ought to know a little about
all of these devices - if you do not, research them.

Answer :
The QWERTY keyboard layout is standard, with minor variations. The layout stems from the
manual typewriters that had arms which flew towards the paper, striking an inked ribbon to make
their mark. If the arms flew from similar positions or too rapidly, they would jam, and so the
QWERTY layout was to make common consecutive letters non- adjacent on the keyboard to
reduce this happening.
A keyboard is an input-output unit that is supported by the operating system. The functions
supported depend on the design and usefulness of the keyboard.
Typically, a keyboard supports alpha-numeric keystrokes. In addition, some keyboards also
include a numeric keypad with special keys indicating addition and subtraction.
Most keyboards also contain up to 12 function keys, each with a special purpose, depending on
the operating system and other software application that is in use by the keyboard operator.
If you were designing a keyboard for a modern computer, and you wanted to produce a faster,
easier to use layout, what information would you need to know and how would that influence the
design?
Answer :
In our idea like this, we produce a keyboard that is comfortably fitted on the users, by changing
the layout of the keyboard from rectangular shape to a banana shape. For typing we separate the
character each key, so you don’t need to long-press the shift key for changing the character.
There is one more thing we have analyzed from information, namely DVORAK this information
needs to be redesigned the keyboard layout will include the commands issued by the keyboard
and the keyboard has been modified but did not succeed in replacing the QWERTY standard.
