Kindly try after changing the power sata connector. Sometimes clicking sound also come when
power supply is weak and sometimes when power connector is improper. After this clicking
sound occurs then I am sorry. kindly take the backup of your HDD and replace with new one..

The thoughts are good, You clean the contacts off with an eraser and use your bare fingers and
rub the contact placing body oils ob the contacts. It cost little to use gloves if you want to rub the
cleaned contacts!

First of all unscrew logic card fro HDD and clean all the connectors. Then connect to PC. Check if
issue resolved. If it is detected and your are not able to find your files. You can go for recovery
with the help of any data recovery tool. Thanks

It seems that power is improper to the logic card and disk. Kindly follow the video and if the hard
drive is of PC then try after replacing SMPS (power Supply). If it does not work even after, you
can try replacing same logic card.

I'm trying to use it as external storage. I have baught a sata to USB casing.
But when I connect it to my PC and power the casing the HDD spins

Hello sir.
I have a seagate 2TB drive that was part of my home NAS. it is now not recognizes by windows. I
tried 3 different data recovery software options and none found anything. on them the drive
shows with a drive letter and 0 kb size. the disk makes no sound whatsoever. i tried using a
different logic boar from another HD that is in the same class and no success. Any idea what else
can i possibly try to rescue data from the drive?

samir khan kindly go to BIOS setup of your pc. Select your HDD which is showing SMART ERROR.
PRESS ENTER and then you have to disable SMART ERROR notification. But don't trust this HDD
too much. Kindly back up your data to another once.

Hi, tahnk you for the quick response. I tried but when i use the program i get this message "I/O
error on HD 1 has occurred " and if i ignore and try to repair the disk once i try to make a new
partition (MBR restore apparently works) the program crash.

I also want to try this but before this I want to mention ma problems.I have three HDD and I just
bought 1 and that disk didn't worked and didn't had any power going on there and I placed
another board but then there was power but the space was not showing nor the HDD and I undo
that and it back as same and I need to repair ma HDD really need it for the new laptop. And 1
more question plz....if there is tic tic sound in the HDD and it is not running smooth then what

Can this method used for desktop pc hdd ?? I have a seagate barracuda 500 gb hdd. Was using
windows 7. Became slow and slow say by day. Not booting up takes about 30 minutes. So i
removed it from pc and connected it externally to a laptop using a 3.5 inch hdd case adapter. No
clicking sounds or any other noises. Takes about 5 minutes to get detected when i tried
connecting it externally to a laptop. Every folder shows up really slow. Copying data takes time.
About 1 hour to copy 500 megabytes. Can you help me out please ??

good question. you can check it by keeping your ear on it. there must be smooth running sound.
no extra sound of other noise. you can also check by keeping a microphone on it. or

Ashokbhai Limbani bro, it may be due to improper usb cable. Kindly try after replacing cable.
Next try to connect with other usb port or on other system. If it does not work then try to
replace the socket of the cable connector in the casing of HDD..
You may got success but remember that if your HDD is beeping after fallen down, these steps
will not work...

You can check for sata/ IDE data cable and power connectors to HDD. Change mode from AHCI
to IDE. If you are having branded PC then kindly check the HDD boot priority in BIOS.

Thanks a lot for making this video , this is really helpful as i have two internal hard disk and both
are undetectable, so i would try this workaround for sure.
Also if you can help me with this issue, When the hard drives were detectable by using external
casing (Module) I somehow formatted the C drive, from then one of the HD is not detectable...

My pleasure...
The problem with external casing and detection of the HDD can be sort out by disk
management. For this, right click on my computer then click on manage and there after select
disk management. From there some options like activating your external HDD by Mark as active
and formatting it can resolve your problem.

Hi, my HDD is making a random tick noise sometimes every 30 seconds and sometimes every
few minutes.. I test with HD tune and says everything ok, no errors.. your input on what’s
causing this/how to fix/if this is normal would be greatly appreciated.. was going to send it for
warranty diagnosis, but scared of them just sending back saying it’s normal when I never heard

Hi, my 1TB seagate barracuda HDD, which I use as my D: drive, started giving errors. It always
required a chdsk every time my PC booted. Eventually my PC stopped booting and said check for
errors. So I opened the cabinet and disconnected the hdd. My C: drive is another 500gb HDD. As
soon as i removed the 1TB drive, the system booted properly and fast. I also noticed that the
faulty HDD was over heating in circuit board area. I tried connecting it via a HDD Adapter via USB
but the system says it cannot recognize the device plugged in and that it is not working properly.
I also noticed that when I plugged it in to USB slot, my screen started having some noise
interference. Please help. I need to repair this hdd and recover my data! Thank you, Sir.

Please be very careful on following these instructions. First, you need to make sure you are NOT
conducting static electricity, as these can damage your electrical components. Use a static wrist
band. Also, touching with your hands WILL leave oil and dirt (even if you can't see them), which
WILL damage your HDD. Do not use a rubber eraser to clean, as it WILL leave residues. Use 100%
isopropilic alcohol, applying with a paper or cloth that LEAVES NO RESIDUE (cloth or paper fibers
or oils).

Dear +INNOVATIVE IDEAS Fantastic and easy to understand video. One question...What is the
bit number you have used to open the screws on the logic card ? Also I have a seagate backup
plus slim 2TB portable hdd and am finding it difficult to open 2 of the screws out of 4. Also the
hdd makes a beep sound twice as it is connected (there is no click or buzz sound) and the hdd is
vibrating as if its powered on but is still untraceable. I have tried changing the usb cable as well

Thank you for creating such an informative video like this! I am also facing not exactly the same
issue but I could able to see the local disk drives (have 4 partitions) in my system (My Coumpter).
But could not be able to open or check the details of the drives through Partition Manager or
Windows Disk Management Tool. When I try either way to check my drives it got hung and
nothing would be showing after that. All the times, I needed to unplug it from my PC to avoid the
hanging problem. I am using the same model of HDD (WD 320GB) shown in this video and
currently which is connected with my PC through an HDD Enclosure. Can you help me to resolve
this issue?

I gather that you just said DO NOT USE the hard drive that was just fixed as the main hard drive.
Is that right? This lap top i am working on has the recovery partition ON THE HD. There is no
copy, Sony will not help with Vaio computers or lap tops. i dont know why but that is what is
written on the site. so
wow. this hard drive is visible when i hook it up to my desktop as you have with the external
hard drive parts are hooked to it. ( very cool trick, I like it.) but when I put the HD in the lap top

HELP NEEDED...My external hard drive when plugged to a laptop spins, and its recognised by the
laptop. Immediately I attempt downloading, minutes after I start hearing a scratching sound and
it gets disconnected. When I plug it back, it no longer recognised by the laptop. After 3 to 4 days,

Anybody got any ideas ? i recently had a pc from a few months ago that's is now put away,

Hard Drive, you have given a ray of hope for survival of my external Transcend 1 TB hard drive.
But still I need your further suggestion rather clarification on status of my drive.
1. The drive is not detected by the computer though the motor is working.
2. There is a clicking sound with regular interval when device is running in computer
3. Can I open the disk and expose the circular disk (in which data is stored) to sunlight or even

Saliva can also been blown to the circuit board causing further erosion, not a great idea using a
breath to clean up dusts. Besides, using fingers to touch/hold hard drive components neither a

I wish I knew what happened to my new hard drive. It is a 6TB capacity and only one week old.
When I brought it home I reformatted it to EXT4 file system using GParted. I have been using
this softward for more than 10 years with no trouble. This was because I wanted to install an
operating system under Linux. A few days later I decided to use it on my Windows machine
instead so I attempted to reformat the drive to NTFS. The first thing I did was to delete the old
FS. No problem. Then I created a new partition table. No problem. I have done this many
hundreds of times with other hard drives of all types. Never a problem. The trouble began
when I tried to install a new FS. I got an error message which is pretty obscure to any besides a
grade AAA techkie. I really don't understand it. Needles to say my Windows computer does not
recognize it. My Linux machine does not either but it does under GParted. I am not so much
concerned with I did wrong because I have done the same thing hundreds of time before with
never a trouble. I want to understand the problem even if it means I have to throw away a new
6TB HD.
This is a new HD which has never been used. Does anyone have any idea what the trouble is. If
so how about a helping hand?

Kindly run CMD as an administrator then
1- Diskpart (c:\Windows\system32>Diskpart and

press enter)
2- List Disk (DISKPART> List disk)
3- Select Disk 1 (Select your damaged disk )
4- Clean Make it clean
5- Create Partition primary
6 - Active (Mark as active)
7- Select Partition 1
8 - Format fs=nts (Please format it normally NOT QUICK)

ok I have a windows 7 hard drive(western digital) I have a IDE/SATA Docking model # 575D. The
hard drive isnt spinning. Used to. BUt I went to disc management (i'm on windows 8) saw the
hard drive listed there. Working properly it says. But I didnt take apart and clean yet. Went to
computer like you said but the hard drive dont show there at all. DO I still need to clean and see
if it will spin then? Or is there a way I can open this hard drive in disc management?

My 500 GB External HD (HITACHI) was working very nicely up to 05 Sept 2017. But when i
connected to PC on 06 Sept 2017 , it was not detecting, but the Green LED is ON in the HD.
Usually the green LED will turn to red while detecting, but now only green is ON. I have changed
the USB cable, checked with other PC..no success. There is a slight single click sound in the HD
when i connect to the PC, after that no special sound nothing!, when i kept the HD near to my
ears the rotating sound can hear, but not detecting. The HD is almost 10 years old, but having
too much data in this. How can i repair or recover the data?. Please help.

Probably your HDD is not detected. Kindly check cables connected to HDD and motherboard.

No.. There might be clicking sound in your HDD..

You should not touch electronics if you do not know the meaning of ESD. You are touching the
PCB with bare hand with no ESD protection. Let me guess you do not know what is PCB. The
connector does not get rusty, you have a built up of carbon on the PCB. You should use isopropyl
alcohol to clean the board.

logic card is damaged, then please replace the logic card of your hdd. You can visit any pc
