REPORT on mobility in Karditsa, Greece

From 7th to 11th May 2018

During 7th to 11th May 2018, the 5th General Lyceum of Karditsa designed and implemented,
as host organization, the second mobility with groups of students in frame of the ongoing
Erasmus+ KA219 project, coded "2017-1-TR01-KA219-045675" and titled "Web2.0 Education
Technologies". During this mobility, the school welcomed and hosted in Karditsa a mixed
group of teachers and pupils of 23 people in total, from Bulgaria (10), Italy (6) and Turkey
(7).

The hosting school tried to implicate most of its students to this mobility, in order to achieve
the maximum impact. Indeed, many of them volunteered themselves working excessively,
preparing the mobility for almost a month before. Greek students were split into separate
teams, in order to be more effective: reception team, acquaintance activity team, european
day team, web-tools presentation team. Its team had different, specific duties set during the
week.

Visiting teachers and students arrived consecutively to our city on Sunday, May the 6th and
they were accommodated in host families (10 of the students) and hotel “Kierion” (8
teachers and 5 students).

On Monday, 7th May, the visiting groups gathered to our school for a short tour in the
venues. Then, the welcome ceremony was held. During that, a short performance regarding
our country and region was given, framed by the school orchestra and students, who danced
traditional songs. After the show, there was a buffet of traditional tastes and coffee. Then, a
session of ice-breaking activities took place. During that, registration of participants was
done, programme details were clarified, hats and shirts with the mobility logos were shared
to all. A lunch at a nearby tavern with local specialties followed. In the afternoon, the
hosting students guided the visitors through a town walk.

On Tuesday, 8th May, the groups took a daily excursion to Plastira’s lake, at about 30 km
distance from the city of Karditsa. After a bus tour around the lake, they were engaged to
sport activities (waterbiking, canoe, archery). Then, they were accommodated at Kazarma
hotel, nearby. In the hotel conference room, each delegation gave a short presentation of its
own country and specific characteristics. Lunch at the luxurious hotel restaurant followed.
Late in the afternoon all returned to city by bus.

On Wednesday, 9th of May, a school workshop on experimental science was conducted.

Activities relevant to European Union Celebration Date followed. Then LTT actions took
place. The referred educational software packages were discussed and each delegation
presented its own progress towards project objectives. A lunch in a city restaurant followed.
In the afternoon there was free time for all.

On Thursday, 10th May, project proceedings continued. Each team presented its own digital
artifacts (posters, banners, songs e.t.c.) and relevant votings with electronic ballots were
scheduled. In parallel, visitors attended through a live facebook channel, the works of a
student conference held in the city, where the greek team presented its own impressions of
the previous mobility in Bulgaria. Then, a guided tour to the archeologic and folklore
museums of our city took place. In the afternoon, teachers gathered at the lobby of hotel
“Kierion”, where they discussed about project particularities and future obligations. Later, in
the conference hall, a farewell ceremony took place. Certifications were awarded and gifts
were exchanged, followed by short appraisals of the mobility.

On Friday, 11th May, the 2nd daily excursion to Meteora took place, sited at a distance of 60
km. A second bus with participating school students accompanied the groups. First we
visited Great Meteor and Varlaam Monasteries, where we followed guided tours to
orthodox iconography and byzantine chanting. Then we descended to the city of Trikala for a
short walk. Buses ended up to the cottage restaurant “Halili”, where everybody tasted
traditional meat meals. Afterwards, in the restaurant dance hall, a small farewell party was
given. That night, visiting teachers attended a musical event with student choirs and
instrumentalists, inside the central city park “Pafsilipon”.

On Saturday morning, 12th May, the visiting groups departed for their home countries where
they arrived safely and hopefully saturated with emotional and cognitive recollections.
