Subject: Application to help run a Primary School in a remote Char on Jamuna river under Sirajgonj District,
namely the Belotia Primary School.

Dear District Governor Ayub,

On behalf of the members of the Rotary Club of Shyamoli-Dhaka, I would like to kindly request you for help to
operate the Belotia Primary School in a remote area of Sirajgonj. This area is remote by inaccessibility. 11 months of
the year it is not accessible by land and therefore the children of the area did not have a school until the club
established one. The school was established on Jan. 01 2015 in a donated premise with 50 students. It has since
grown to two classes with 90 students.

It is a healthy school with 100% attendance and great enthusiasm of the students and the parents of the area. 200
families are benefited. And with the assistance of our PP M. Nuruzzaman Bhuiyan,PHF, who is a retired Secretary of
the Govt. of Bangladesh, we are getting all the support of the Govt. and its local officers. This school is expected
routinely to be taken over by the Government. In planning for the coming year – the District Administration has
provided additional help by allowing the school to move into the cyclone shelter. This will protect the school from
floods and allow the natural expansion of classes. We intend to support the school until it is absorbed in the official
list of school.

It would be a great support if this project can be assisted by some Financial Assistance. A summary of the 2016-17
rotary year’s expenses are attached. Any portion of that amount may be funded. The balance shall be funded by the
club.

WHY:
1)This is a remote area inaccessible by land for 11 months
2) No other Schools within travel zone of the children
3) 200 families benefited
4)The School must be sustained for 4-5 years to let the Govt. absorb the school
(PP M. Nuruzzaman Bhuiyan, PHF a retired Secretary of GoB is actively
maintaining contact with the DC, District Education Officer, Thana Education
Officer and the Primary Education Directorate. The GoB is providing full
assistance as appropriate at the level of development of the school.)
