Miguel Cavique is a professor at the Naval Academy in Naval Engineering, the field of mechanics. He received
the Engineer Diploma from IST (now part of the Lisbon University) in 1983, Master Diploma from IST in 1991
and PhD title from New University Lisbon in 2011.
During his life, he has always maintained a parallel academic career and industrial jobs or activities. In the
1980s, he worked at the Lisbon gas network, the Department of Electricity of Portugal (EDP), who heads the
network design department. Thus, he worked as a system engineer and provided support to the clients of the
bank on the relational databases. He was also an assistant professor at the Faculty of Sciences in Lisbon and
assistant professor at Lusiada University until 1996 in the fields of mathematics and statistics. At the Polytechnic
in Setubal (1991-2015), he dedicated his work in the field of gas and air conditioning networks, consulting on
air conditioning system design and the energy audit of buildings. Moreover, he also owned an industrial
enterprise and, in addition, a commercial one on air-conditioning systems, which he maintains until now. He is
a specialist in air conditioning systems of the Association of Engineers in Portugal, member of the Air
Conditioning Specialization of the same Association and President (2016-17) of Portugal's ASHRAE (American
Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers). Professor Miguel Cavique has dedicated the
last ten years to developing and applying the Axiomatic Design (AD), especially in designing air conditioning
systems and, most recently, applying AD to the naval industry.

Academician Professor Ion Bostan graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Chisinau (1971). In 1977 he
defended the doctoral thesis, and in 1989 the thesis of Habilitated Doctor at the State Technical University "N.
Bauman" of Moscow. He became a member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in 1994. He is the author of
over 800 scientific papers (of which 13 didactic handbooks and monographs) and over 200 patented
inventions. As a rector of the Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau between 1992 and 2015, he was
strongly involved in raising the quality of didactic and research activities, providing conditions for the
employment of talented young people which were desiring to contribute to scientific and technic progress. For
his activities, he was rewarded with the State Prize in Science and Technology (1977, 1988), with the gold
medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva, 1988), with the title of emeritus inventor of the
Republic of Moldova (1989), with the Order of the Republic (1994), with “Steaua României” (in 2000), with the
European Order of Merit (Brussels, 1999), with the order of "Courtoisie Europeene" of the European Union, with
orders "Mérite de l'Invention" (in the years 1997, 1998, 1999). He is the Honoris Causa Doctor of the Oil & Gas
University of Ploiesti, the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, the University of Bacau, the "Politehnica"
University of Bucharest (Romania), the Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu State University of Cahul (Republic of

Arik Sadeh is a Professor at the Technology Management Faculty at the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) ,
where he has been a faculty member since 1995. Until recently Prof. Sadeh served as the Dean of Technology
Management faculty, and he is a member of the Academic Committee of HIT. He is a visiting Prof. at the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Prof. Sadeh holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He earned his Ph.D. at Texas A&M
University, Texas, USA in 1986 and then held a post-doctoral position there.

Along with his academic career, Prof. Sadeh had worked at an innovative American high-tech solar energy
company in strategic planning as well in the department of statistics at the Volcani Agriculture Research
Organization, Israel.

His primary areas of research and publications are operations research, project management and scheduling,
system engineering, industrial organizations, optimization, innovation and entrepreneurship, risk assessment
and decision making, financial engineering, strategy and patterns of product lifecycle, economics and
econometrics.

Dr. Angelos P. Markopoulos is an Assistant Professor in the Section of Manufacturing Technology at the School
of Mechanical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. He graduated as Mechanical
Engineer from NTUA in 2000 and received his PhD from the same University in 2006. Since then he has worked
as visiting Professor at the University of Thessaly, Hellenic Air Force Academy, School of Pedagogical &
Technological Education and Hellenic Navy. In 2014 he was elected Lecturer in NTUA and from 2016 he is an
Assistant Professor.
His research includes topics such as precision and ultraprecision machining processes with special interest in
high speed hard machining, grinding and micromachining. Among the research topics he is interested in,
surface integrity, materials and machinability, tool wear and measurements technology in machining, are
included. Furthermore, he is an expert in manufacturing technology modeling and simulation, including the
Finite Element Method, Artificial Intelligence and Molecular Dynamics, among others. He has participated in
many national and international scientific projects in the aforementioned areas, as a researcher.
He is the author of more than 100 papers in journals, conferences and book chapters on the above mentioned
scientific areas. He is the author of a book published by Springer and an editor of a book published by CRC
Press in the USA. His work is cited more than 400 times and has an h index of 9 (Scopus).

Razvan Pacurar is Leading Researcher within the National Centre of Innovative Manufacturing from the

Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He holds a PhD title in the Industrial Engineering field, being a

specialist in the Additive Manufacturing domain, with more than 60 articles presented at different international

scientific conferences or published within different prestigious journals all over the world (indexed in significant

international databases or ISI). He was and he is still involved as a member, responsible or director within

several national research projects or international grants (FP 7, HORIZON 2020, etc.) related to the field of

additive manufacturing, with applications in medicine and industrial domains. He holds the Associate Professor

position at the Department of Manufacturing Engineering from the Faculty of Machine Building at the

Doctor Engineer Katarzyna Białas is an employee of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology of the Silesian
University of Technology in Gliwice since 2004. She is the co-author of three monographs and the author and
co-author of numerous scientific publications published in scientific journals of national and international
scope. She presented her achievements at many conferences in Poland and in European countries. She was a
contractor in five research projects (registry no. 5 T07C 029 23, 5 TO7C 041 25, N502 071 31/3719, N N501
222035, PBS2 / A6 / 17/2013) and the manager of the research project no. N N502 452139 titled: Synthesis of
active mechanical and mechatronic systems. As part of the project with registry no .: N N501 222035, created a
proprietary program consisting of two subroutines supporting the analysis and synthesis of cascade or
branched systems: Synthesis of Cascade Mechanical Systems and Synthesis of Branched Mechanical Systems.

Vasile Merticaru is now Associated Professor at “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi. He graduated as
Diplomat Engineer in Machine Manufacturing Technology, in 1994, at TUIASI. He got a Master Diploma in Non-
conventional Technologies and Materials Workability in 1995 and the PhD in Industrial Engineering in 2004,
also at TUIASI.
Within 1995-1996 he was employed as technological engineer within the Department for New Products
Assimilation at SC ASAM SA, Iasi Romania, being in charge with coordination and monitoring activities in
launching for manufacturing and homologation of new products outsourced to German companies JOST and
WIHAG. In 1996 he came in TUIASI as doctoral student and since 1999 he has dedicated his work to teaching
and research activities within the Department of Machine Manufacturing Technology, Faculty of Machine
Manufacturing and Industrial Management from TUIASI. He teaches CAD, respectively Automation and
Robotics in Technological Processes, in bachelor degree programmes and Industrial Design, respectively
Advanced Machining and Assembling Technologies, in master degree programmes. Within 2006-2012 he was
vice-dean of the Faculty of Machine Manufacturing and Industrial Management from TUIASI.
He is author/co-author for 15 technical books (5 as first author) and for over 170 scientific papers (over 70 as first
author), covering the following research areas: manufacturing technologies; optimization of activities for design
and development of industrial products and manufacturing processes, by selective and convergent use of
CAD/CAM/CAE/CAx/PDM/PLM solutions; integration of advanced theories and principles (Holistic Design, DfX,
