0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this proposal is to seek endorsement from Top Management UniKL
MICET to approve the proposal on Community Service Event at Sekolah Menengah Hang
Kasturi, Masjid Tanah Melaka which conducted on 25th April 2018.

2.0 BACKGROUND

Group 3 committee (See Appendix 1) together with Section of Technical Foundation

with the theme of event “The Best of Bond is Chemical Bond” will organized an
engagement session with Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi in order to provide
comprehensive activities with the students. The target participants are Form 1 to Form 5
students that will be participate to this event. In this session, the students will be able to
know the program offered in UniKL MICET, career pathway and other value added
activities in chemistry.

In conjunction of this program, there are 32 UniKL MICET students will involve for
fulfil their merit in UniKL MICET Community Services Subject (MPU3462). This
programme will give good exposure to us and gain opportunity to put our talents and
creativity in dealing with society.

In addition, we also collaborated with Section of Technical Foundation and MESRA

unit to provide more activities and knowledge about chemistry as well as sharing session
about UniKL MICET to Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi students. The knowledge enable
the students refresh their knowledge on chemistry in fun way as well as to get clear
information and direction towards UniKL MICET.

In order to achieve our objective, there are two session will be conducted which are
exhibition and learning session. During the exhibition session, Lab demonstration and
sharing session will be introduced. This is the best platform to strengthen the bond between
UniKL MICET and Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi.
3.0 OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this event are:

3.1 To strengthen the knowledge on chemistry among Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi
students.
3.2 To expose the students about the programme offered in UniKL MICET.
3.3 To promote the students about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics) that related with chemical engineering society.
3.4 To share the experience and knowledge from UniKL MICET to Sekolah Menengah
Hang Kasturi.

4.0 PROGRAM DETAILS

5.1 MODULE DESCRIPTION
MODULE DESCRIPTION
Learning OBJECTIVES:
(Quizzes or Teaching)  To teach and enhance the students with high
knowledge based on STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics).

ACTIVITIES:
 Community Service Representative and about four
helpers from Icole students of UniKL MICET will
conducted quizzes or teachning to the Sekolah
Menengah Hang Kasturi students.
 During this session, only form 3 and form 5 will
joined.
 Prizes will be provided to the one that answered
correctly.

CONCLUSION:
This module activity will expose our talent in conducting,
teaching and enhance our soft skills when dealing with the
society.
Exhibition OBJECTIVES:
(Games)  To have fun session in learning chemistry

ACTIVITIES:
These activities will be conducted on the booth which
depended on the one that handle the booth during
exhibition session. This activity would attract the students
to comes joined the games provided to let the students
experience the games conducted.

CONCLUSION:
 Improve the creativity of student and increase their
eagerness to learn chemistry subject. Besides, the games
will create good bonding between UniKL MICET and
Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi students.
Exhibition OBJECTIVES:
(Lab Demonstration)  To apply the chemical engineering programme to
the society

ACTIVITIES:
The lab demonstration will be conducted by UniKL
MICET students with different types of booth conducted.
Types of lab demonstration:
 Volcano and Rename the Chemicals
 Chem E – Car
 Electrolysis
 Rate of Reaction
 Fire Snake
 Starch Slime
 Black Box

CONCLUSION:
In this lab demonstration session, student will train to do
lab experiment for chemistry subject and they appeal to
study at UniKL MICET.

Exhibition OBJECTIVES:
(Sharing Session and STEM)  To market and sharing the University of Kuala
Lumpur to the society

ACTIVITIES:
 Sharing on experiences, soft skills, working in
group, presentation, conducting an event, way to
 balancing studies and curriculum, proper way to
study in university, and doing lab experiment
 Videos and sharing session with UniKL MICET
students

CONCLUSION:
This sharing session will attract the Sekolah Menengah
Hang Kasturi student’s interest to enter the chemical
engineering programme and UniKL institute.

7.0 CONCLUSION

The program will provide a positive impact to the awareness about UniKL MICET
(Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering
Technology) to Sekolah Menengah Hang Kasturi students and increasing their intrigued
about UniKL MICET.
