After the story:
The teacher will propose these questions to the students: This will be done as a
think, pair share. Student partners have already been assigned.
Wonder Questions:
I wonder why the four friends wanted to take their paralysed friend to Jesus?
- They loved their friend
- They wanted to see Jesus, so he could heal him
I wonder how the mans friends felt when they carried him?
- Tired, sore, frustrated, but hopeful.
I wonder how the men felt when they heard Jesus’ voice
- Happy, relieved.
I wonder how they felt when they got to the house, but they could not get in.
- Sad, disappointed, angry
I wonder how they felt when they figured out how to get their friend in?
- Happy, anxious.
I wonder how the man felt when Jesus healed him?
- Surprised, happy
I wonder how his friends felt when Jesus healed him?
- Happy, surprised
I wonder how all the people felt when Jesus healed the man?
The teacher must encourage students to explain how they would feel if they were a
character in the scripture story.
The students will choose one of the following points of view:
1. Jesus
2. One of the paralysed man’s friends
3. The paralysed man
Once this is complete the teacher will collect the post cards for marking, these will
be shared in the beginning of the next lesson. Where students will come up and
openly share their post cards.

Anecdotal notes and observations of participation relating to the Wonder
Questions. I have chosen a group of 5 students to observe today. I will be asking
them questions to observe and note their responses. Rubric
