Time Motivation and Introduction:
s
The students will begin sitting on the mat in front of the
educator. Once the students are settled the educator will
begin the lesson.

The educator will review different types of feelings we

may experience in a day and the fact that Jesus also had
feelings to in which we have explored in the previous two
lessons.

The educator will then explain to the students that:

“Followers of Jesus (Catholic people) can show their
feelings in loving ways.
For example, if they are feeling happy they may ask
others to play with them and to be happy too. If people
see others feeling sad or lonely they could ask them if
they would like cheering up or invite them to be part of
their happy games.

If people are feeling frightened or afraid, they could go to

their parents or another adult they trust and they could
help make them happy again. When people show their
feelings in loving ways, as Jesus did, they become closer
to God who loves them. “ Butchers paper and
markers
The class will then brainstorm ways they can make
themselves feel happier or show their feelings in loving
ways to others.
The educator will brainstorm these ideas on a A3 sheet
around a smiley face.
E.g.

Key Questions):

The educator will then read the book Grumpy Bird by

Jeremy Tankard to students.
After reading the story, the educator will ask a wonder
question, then leave some time for reflection before the

1. How did the other animals in the book help the bird
show his feelings in a loving way?
2. How can you show your feelings in a loving way?
3. God created us all with feelings. Why do you think
he did that?
4. Do you think Jesus had happy and unhappy feelings
just like the bird in the story?
5. Jesus wants his followers to show their feelings in
loving ways, how as a class could we continue to
give thanks for our feelings?

After the class has finished the discussion the educator

will then explain to the students that we will be making a Desks will need to be
bank of loving feelings cards to put in a box. During the setup with materials for
following weeks, the students can give these cards to making loving feelings
