Key Understanding:
This is the 9th lesson that students are engaging in

with this unit.
In previous lessons, students have been wondering

good. They have recognised and identified that inner

Teacher Witness – Share examples of how you celebrate the Bible at
work and at home.
The Bible needs to have an important place in the Catholic school
classroom and treated with respect. Jesus used the Bible throughout his
life. The Bible (made up of the Old and the New Testament) contains all
and only what God wanted written. God gave the Bible to humans so
that we could learn His teachings.
• Gifted student can create a monthly plan of how they will
celebrate the Bible within their family home.
• Student with intellectual disability can illustrate how they
will celebrate the Bible and the Education Assistant can
scribe their answers underneath.

2. State purpose of the lesson to students:
- Today we’re going to explore how Jesus celebrated the Bible
during his life. Then we will look at the different ways that we
can celebrate the Bible in our everyday life.

1. During his life on Earth, Jesus taught his followers to celebrate
the Bible. Let’s have a look at some of the times that Jesus
used the Bible.

2. As a class, brainstorm on the board ways that Christians today

- Read and listen to scripture
- Listen to priest explain passages
- Listen to teacher read the Bible
- Sing/read psalms
- Saying responses during mass

3. Explain the activity for students to complete:

- In your reflection journals, you need to write their own plan
about how you will celebrate the Bible in two ways; on your own
and with your families.
Students who finish early can illustrate their ideas on the page.

4. Send students to their desks to begin the activity.
5. Walk around the room and assist students as needed.

3. Call on some students to share what their partner came up
with.
4. Re-emphasise the main message of the lesson: As Catholics,
we need to celebrate the Bible like Jesus did when he was alive
on Earth.

collection and sit back at their desks to begin the literacy block.
