Time Motivation and Introduction:

 Prior to the commencement of the lesson, as a class we have
had a classroom checklist, every student has had a role when
preparing for the Classroom Christmas tree.

 Students roles would include baublel duties, tinsel duties,


ornaments, light duties, star duties. Etc

 When the children have completed their role, students would


come quietly to the checklist and mark their name down as Classroom Checklist
completed their duty.

 Students will be quietly sitting on the floor, cross legged in front


of the classroom Christmas tree which will be all completed

 Teacher will congratulate students on completing the classroom
checklist and working together to do the community classroom
Christmas tree

 The purpose of the community Christmas tree is as people


prepare, they need to work together, come together each having
a role and job to do, sharing the jobs as we prepare for this
special time of Christmas.

 This leads us into preparing for special times using our


classroom example as a guide and help
Teacher will pose wonder questions

I wonder what preparations for special times need to be made? Students
can use the classroom examples for preparing the classroom community
Christmas tree for prompting
Before the students go back to their assigned seats, the teacher will
explain and model the lesson to the children
 Teacher will go over activity with the students and talk about
what the students might do while they are waiting for a particular
event and how they prepare for it.

 Teacher will ask if there are any questions, to make sure all
children understand the set task.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):


 Students will quietly go back to their assigned desks, once the
teacher is happy all children understand the set task

 Desks are grouped from extending students to enabling students
that need extra attention

 Children make cartoons titled ‘preparing for…’ and illustrating


what they do to prepare for a particular special time, students are Preparing for special times
required to draw, with students who are capable and have time activity
can write underneath what they have drawn.

and references from the community Christmas tree to start them
off

 Teacher will be walking around making anecdotal notes on the


children’s work and progress, and EA and teacher will be going Anecdotal notes
around assisting students were needed

Prayers
 Students will be asked to write a prayer

min  Students will be provided with the opportunity to thank God for
the body parts they use that help to prepare for special times.

 Teacher will provide cartoon cut outs of different body parts an


example being eyes, hands, legs. Students will choose the body
part that best suits themselves on what bests helps them prepare
for special times, and be asked to write their prayer on to them.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

5 min  Students will come back to the mat with their prayers
 Teacher will select a few prayers that the children wrote to read
out in front of the class
 Everyone will read their prayer silently and start transition

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)

 To transition to the next lesson, I need to explain to the students
that they are going to recess so we will have to go get their hats,
wash their hands and walk quietly and line up at the door
patiently waiting for the teacher to let them go to recess.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will they be


assessed?)
 Could students identify preparing for special times – through
anecdotal records and checklists
 Could students identify one body part that helps them contribute
to preparing for special times- through anecdotal notes and
checklists.
