LONG LONG AGO, IN THE LAND OF AGRA, INDIA.. THERE LIVED A WISE KING CALLED SHAH JEHAN. SHAH
JEHAN WAS THE SON OF JAHANGIR AND THE GRANDSON OF AKHBAR. HE RULED HIS KINGDOM WHEN
HE WAS 35 YEARS OLD.

HE WAS WALKING IN THE MEENA BAZAAR WITH HIS GUARDS. “ Wow, she is so beautiful!” HE said that
after seeing a girl in a bazaar. He immediately fell in love with her. So, he asked to the guard the girls’
name. She is Mumtaz Mahal, the princess of Persia. He went to meet her parents and soon after they
got married. At that time shah jehan was 14 years old and Mumtaz Mahal was 15 years old.

After a few years, Mumtaz mahal was giving birth to their 14th child but sadly she died. “Before she died,
she asked shah jehan to make a promise. “O my dear Shah Jehan, do you love me? SJ: I love you, MY
WIFE.. (SOBBING).. Promise me 2 things.. first, don’t marry other woman after I die.. second is.. BuiId a
tomb for me because want you to remember me forever…

After the death of his queen, Shah jehan was really sad. He loved his wife so much that his heart was really hurting. He did not go out. He did not
eat or drink for 8 days. Then, he remembered his promise to Mumtaz Mahal. He built taj mahal near the river of agra to remember his wife
forever. Today, the taj mahal is one of the most beautiful monument in the world.
