#MyGivingStory is a storytelling campaign, launched in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation, to foster a public conversation about giving and, through stories, to inspire more peo-
ple to give. We invite you to share your personal giving story, and to share more about how and why
you give to the causes you care about. The #MyGivingStory campaign in South Africa will highlight
the many facets of giving, including time, money, skills or your voice. We will highlight some stories
throughout the month of November in lead up to #GivingTuesdaySA so that you can hear from South
Africans of all walks of life and why they give. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

• Tell us about why you think giving is important.

• Tell us about the first time you ever made a donation.
• Tell us about someone whose giving you admire. #MY
• Tell us about a time when a gift had a meaningful impact. GIVING
• Tell us about what motivates you to give.
S TO RY
Create a short video showcasing why you give - include the
logo of the organization you support in order to bring much
needed support and attention to their work. Then, upload
it to the #MyGivingStory platform. The top 20 most liked
videos will go to a distinguished judging panel, and three
winners will be announced. Winners will receive R20,000
for a charity of their choice.

What is #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media & collaboration. Cele-
brated on the Tuesday following the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday & Cyber Mon-
Giving day, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday & end-of-year
Tuesday? giving. $300 Million has been raised in over 150 countries since the Movement started in 2012.
