Information:
The functionality of the Auerswald LAN TAPI will only be available if you connect the PBX via Ethernet
to the TAPI Server. The USB Interface is reserved for Configuration of the PBX and does not support
TAPI functionality.

1. The Auerswald LAN TAPI driver may be installed on only one computer in the network.

2. The PBX must be reachable via ping from the server that is to be configured as TAPI Server.

The Auerswald PBX in association with the Auerswald LAN TAPI driver supports S0, analogue
and system telephone devices.

CONFIGURATION OF THE AUERSWALD PBX

Set the IP adress of the Auerswald PBX.

Please take note, that the value of Gateway has to be a valid IP adress. You may find your valid
gateway on your server/client with the following steps:

• Start -> Run -> CMD.EXE

• ipconfig.exe

You will get information on your current network IP setting, including information about your gateway.

You can dafine the Port that will be used for communication under LAN TAPI
Configuration.
The default value is: 7001.

Enter a password for the Auerswald LAN TAPI Server in the PBX.
Information: Please pay attention that the password must be only letters and must not contain
numbers and signs.

The TAPI licensing has to be done in the PBX. The license is linked to the PBX dongle.
You can enter your licenses under Administration
Dongle-Shares.

All lines you want to use via Microsoft TAPI have to be added to the LAN TAPI – subscriber dialogue.

Basically all Auerswald lines can be opened for monitoring via Microsoft TAPI but only the lines that
have been added to the LAN TAPI – subscriber can carry out TAPI functions like ‘dial’.

INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION OF AUERSWALD LAN-TAPI

DRIVER

The installation has to be performed with administrative rights.

The TSP configuration dialogue will open immediately after the installation and can be opened via
Phone and Modem Options in the Control Panel (Start

Under Connection to the PBX you must enter the IP Adress of your Auerswald PBX. The Auerswald
PBX does not support DHCP, therefore you must work a static IP Adress.

If you have a DNS Name configured for your Auerswald PBX in your DNS Server, you can enter the
DNS Name and click search to have the driver resolve the IP Adress automaticly.

The function check only tries to resolve the PBX IP from your DNS Server and does not check the
connection to your PBX!

Enter the password you have set in the PBX’s LAN TAPI Server configuration (Auerswald PBX

configuration) into the password fields under Security.
Please take note that you must enter a password – empty passwords must not be used!

FUNKTIONALITY TEST
A functionality test independant of the software that is planned to be used later can be performed with
the freeware tool Phone.

You can download this tool for free from the developer’s Homepage:
http://julmar.com/tapi/tapi_soft_phone.zip

We can not provide warranty for the use of this tool.

Extract the .zip File and start the application Phone.exe.

Under device you will find a list from which you can select one of the available lines.
Select a line (if possible select a line of a telephone you can oversee from the server) and confirm by
clicking Sart Session. Now you can enter a phonenumber in the field Phone #. If you click Make Call
this phonenumber will be dialed.

Information:
If the function Make Call is not clickable (button remains grayed), you have to reboot the PBX by
disconnecting the power supply and reconnecting it after 10 sekonds.
A restart via the PBX-Webinterface will NOT be adequate.
Once the PBX is up and running again (Control-lamp lights up green), you have to restart the
Microsoft service Telephony to have the Auerswald LAN TAPI reconnect to the PBX.
Now you should be able to use Make Call.

DISTRIBUTING THE TAPI-FUNCTIONALITY IN YOUR NETWORK

To provide the TAPI funcionalty on your TAPI Server for your Windows-workstations (min. Windows
2000 with SP4) you need to distribute the TAPI in your network.

Attention: The TAPI Server Provider Auerswald LAN TAPI may only be installed on one computer in
your network!

One way to distribute the TAPI in your network can be like this:

Employment of the OSITRON server for the TAPI distribution in the network

You can use the TAPI distribution over OSITRON TAPI under the following Windows operating
systems: XP at least SP2, VISTA, VISTA SP1, Server 2003 SP2, Server 2008.

The TAPI-distribution in the network is realized from the OSITRON Server- and Client software.
