Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

For students who are learning English, there are options for students to use a different language for
supported learning. There are text-to-talk options with this software, so they are able to express themselves
without having the worry of typing. Students are able to use this software at home (if technology is
available). Students are able to have visuals with this software with the use of pictures, videos, anything that
is able to be copied onto PowerPoint.
Lesson idea implementation:
While standards are being addressed with this software, students are watching the PowerPoint goes along
and changes slides by itself with the audio on the slides. The teacher will be watching the students watch the
PowerPoint and can stop the slides to ask students questions on the colors shown. Students will be allowed
to ask questions and answer along with the PowerPoint. The lesson will be introduced with this PowerPoint
as it is a helpful introduction to learning the colors. The PowerPoint asks the students what they see on the
slide and what color is shown. The students will look at it and answer aloud what they see. The students will
be assessed by seeing if they know the colors that were shown on the PowerPoint by answering aloud the
color shown. The teacher will observe students to see what they answer.
The final product can be used to inform students on the three colors that are a part of the curriculum that
should be taught in pre-k. Students will be able to think of examples for themselves of the different colors
(red=firetruck). Students learning can be extended with these examples by giving other examples than what
were given on the PowerPoint. Students can create their OWN colored object (yellow duck) on a piece of
paper to produce what they have learned about the three colors that were given. To conclude the lesson, I
would ask students what colors we learned about during the lesson and where they have seen those colors.
Students will be provided with feedback by telling the students that their color prediction of object are either
correct or they need to pick a different color (truck is or is not purple).

Reflective Practice:
I feel as if these activities would increase student learning on the colors very much as it gives students an
opportunity to visualize the colors and say them out loud. To further extend this lesson, students could
create their own project using one color and labeling what it is (or the teacher label it). The teacher could ask

the students where they have seen these colors outside, at home, or in the school. Students get to think
about where they have seen these colors which furthers student’s minds. There are several other technology
tools that could be used with this project as colors is a very wide subject. BrainPOP is another tool that could
be used for this project.
