Talent: Relevance. This is the guiding concept the K- MCU of Talent against building of LNHS

In the race to make education relevant, the

Department of Education has sought time and again
to reframe education—most recently through the
implementation of the Senior High School level.

helped and continues to help it change the
educational landscape.

Germany which sought and seeks to institutionalize
the Dual Education and Training scheme in the Dual Education and Training
Philippine Educational landscape.

2b Int D Talent: So, Sir, in what ways is the DET here in Laiya MCU of Talent
2c Int D Sir Bobet: Well, it is unique in many ways. MCU of Sir Bobet

First, it is done in partnership with many, many

stakeholders. Most visible in school is of course Mr. Picture of Sir Marcel appears beside Sir Bobet, with caption:
Marcer Haessner who has been coordinating the Marcel Haessner, PCCI-HRDF
institutions involved in this. He works for the Philippine
Chamber of Commerce and Industry- HRDF (PCCI-HRDF).
He is also connected to Sequa, the German organization Logo of Sequa
supervising the K-12 Plus Project.

Most importantly, we have the Association of Laiya Logo of ALRO appears beside Sir Bobet.
Resorts Owners (ALRO) on board. Without their
cooperation, the project would not really be possible.
2d Int D Sir Bobet: But the most defining feature of the work we
do here in Laiya would be the instructional setup itself.

For one, the DET we implement requires a minimum of 800 hrs vs. 80 hrs.
800 hours of immersion from its students. That is a far cry
from the 80 hours required of the regular classes.

In our setup, we require the students to rotate between Photo of students in class

Consequently, this required the integration of the seven Integration

applied subject required by DepEd into the 800-hour work
immersion time.

Talent: Good morning, Ma’am Criza. Will you explain to us OTS from Talent to Ms. Criza.
the mechanics of the integration? What exactly happened
to those seven subjects?

Ms. Criza: Well, previously there was a misconception

about those applied subjects. People thought we’ve
removed them entirely from the curriculum. In truth, we
just anchored them into the work immersion, and
consequently, the major subjects.

To illustrate, the topics for Practical Research I and Show table of specification for the applied subjects.
Empowerment technologies were anchored in the
immersion for housekeeping.

The same is true more or less for the remaining subjects,
depending on the agreed upon mode of delivery for the
said subject.

I would like to reiterate that the applied subjects were not

removed per se. However, they are now taught and
approached a bit differently.
