1. SECTION-A is compulsory consisting of Ten question carrying Two marks each.

2. SECTION-B contains FIVE questions carrying ten marks each.

SECTION -A
1.
a. With suitable sketch, explain the method of dimensioning of i) circle ii) Angle
b. Draw conventions for i) internal threads ii) gun metal
c. Draw symbols to represent removal of material by marching.
d. What is difference between a ‘go limit’ and ‘not go’ limit.
e. What do you understand by pitch of a thread?
f. What are the advantages of riveted joints?
g. Draw symbols for i) convex double-V butt joint ii) fillet weld
h. What are multi start threads? Where these are used and why?
i. Why the ends of the overlapping plates in riveted joint are beveled? State the usual angle of
beveling.
j. What is stud or stud bolt?

Section –B

2. Explain different methods of dimensioning with the help of figures.

3. Draw profile of knuckle threads by taking pitch of 20mm. clearly show the calculations and
show dimensions on the drawing.
4. Draw free hand sketch of single plate friction clutch.
5. Draw free hand front view (upper half in section) of a gib and cotter joint.
6. Explain different methods to draw a circle in auto CAD.

PART – C (30)
Answer ALL the Questions

7. A steel pin having a nominal diameter of 30 mm is to be an easy running fit in the bore of a
bronze bush. Sketch free hand indicating the limit dimensions for the steel pin and the bore of the
bush. (15)

8. Find the limit dimensions for an interference fit on the role basis system for a basic size of 35 mm
with a maximum interference of 0.05 mm, tolerance on the hole is 0.025 mm and the tolerance on
the shaft is 0.015 mm. Check the calculated dimensions. (10)
9. Define the following terms with suitable sketches
(1) Bolts (2) Nuts (5)

Guideline –

• Ensure to solve every question in series.

• Do not copy past answers, as it will lead to rejection of answer sheets.

• Highlight more relevant case studies and practice examples.

• Submit answer sheet in standard format only.

• Make sure to be in time limits of submission to avoid rejection of submission after deadline.

• In case of hand written sheet submission please be assure of sober writing and cleanliness of answer
sheet.

• Do take care of numerical and diagrammatical representation up to the mark if applicable.
