Introduction
In this chapter, we will learn the followings:
Finding Initial and Final Values
Source-Free Series RLC Circuit
Step Response of a Series RLC Circuit
Introduction
In this lecture, you will learn
Finding Initial and Final Values
At the end of the lecture, the student should be
able to calculate
vc(0), initial voltage across a capacitor.
iL(0), initial current through an inductor.
dvc(0)/dt and diL(0)/dt
iL(∞) and vC(∞)
Introduction
Definition:
A Second Order Circuit is characterized by a
second order differential equation. It consists of
resistors and the equivalent of two energy stored
elements.
The second order circuits can consists of the
following circuit configurations:
Series RLC Circuit
Parallel RLC Circuit
RC Circuit
RL Circuit
Introduction
The following figures show the circuits of second
order circuits:
Summary
We have covered the following topics in this
lecture:
Finding Initial and Final Values
Now, the students should be able to calculate
vc(0), iL(0)
dvc(0)/dt and diL(0)/dt
iL(∞) and vC(∞)
In the next lecture, we will learn
