STUDENT’S GUIDELINES FOR THE QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

The following instructions must be carefully noted and strictly observed:

Identification Cards

a. Candidates are required to bring and show their school identification cards on
the examination date.
b. In case a candidate lost his/her identification card, he/she shall be required to
bring any form of identification that may verify his/her identity.

Attendance Sheet

a. Candidates are requested to be at their designated testing center at least 30


minutes before the start of the examination to register.
b. Candidates will be required to sign on the registration sheet before entering the
room.
c. Substitution of candidate will not be allowed the day before nor during the
examination date.

Examination Room Opens

a. The examination room will open at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the exam
to allow for check-in procedures. Testing centers with large attendance may
require additional time to check in candidates.

Examination proper

a. The examination will start at exactly 8:00 a.m.


b. The candidates will be given the full amount of time to answer the test.
Examination times do not include check-in, reading of instructions (read-thru), or
the collection of exam materials at the conclusion of the examination.
c. There will be no extension of time to those who will arrive late.

Personal Belongings
a. Candidates will be provided with pencils and scratch papers for the examination.
b. The proctor will designate an area where the candidates may place their
bags/belongings.
c. The only materials allowed on the desk during the exam are writing materials
provided and the prescribed calculator.

Electronics

a. All electronic devices (including cellphones, earphones, and the like) are not
allowed during the exam session. All candidates are required to turn off or put on
silent mode their mobile phones during the examination. The use of mobile
phone, text message or call, is strictly prohibited while the examination is in
progress. Candidates are only allowed to check/use their phones during lunch
break.

Calculators

a. Candidates can only use the prescribed calculator for the examination. (Please
refer to the List of Allowable Calculators)

Smoking

a. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the examination room. This also includes


electronic smoking devices.
Food and Drink

a. Candidates are encouraged to bring their own food and beverage during the
examination date. The candidate will be given an hour for lunch, 10-minutes
break in the morning and 15-minutes break in the afternoon.
b. Candidates are not allowed to eat during the actual examination.

Use of restrooms

a. Candidates will be allowed to use the restroom but should inform the proctor
before leaving the exam room. Only one person at a time shall be allowed to go
to the restroom and all exam materials must be surrendered to the proctor before
being allowed to leave the exam room.
b. Candidates will not be permitted to use the restroom or leave their seats during
the last 15 minutes of the examination.

Information needed in your scratch papers

a. Candidates must write their examinee number in the upper right corners of scratch
papers for proper identification. The candidates will turn in these materials to
the proctor at the end of the examination.

Control Numbers

a. All answer sheets have control numbers. The candidates should take note of
their examinee numbers before entering the testing room.

In case of emergency

a. Candidates should remain seated and wait for instructions on how to proceed,
which will be provided by the proctors and administrators.
