The extinguishant Novec™ 1230

The extinguishant Novec™ 1230 that is used in VSN 1230 fire
extinguishing systems is a liquid that looks like water, but it
neither damages computers nor books.
Novec™ 1230 is chemically seen a fluorinated ketone.
Since the extinguishant does not conduct electricity, it does
not cause short-circuits in electronic devices. For instance
computer monitor is full functioning when taking a bath in this
liquid.
Novec™ 1230 is not corrosive and does not leave residues
Figure: Multi-zone system - even paper becomes dry again within short time without
damage. For this reason it is optimally suitable for the use in
areas with electrical and electronic equipment (EDP centres,
computer rooms, telecommunications and server rooms,
switching and distributor rooms and comparable applications).

Multi-zone systems safeguard several extinguishing zones. If the extinguishing zones are of different sizes,
multi-zone systems will be equipped with several extinguishing agent cylinders. The extinguishing agent
supply and, thus, the number of extinguishing agent cylinders always follow the largest extinguishing zone.
When activated, the system will only flood one extinguishing zone.

nitrogen fire extinguishing systems.

Function description
In case of fire the selector valve is released and the extinguishing
line is flooded. The presence of pressure actuates the cylinder,
which in turn opens or closes the floating contacts of the limit
switch depending on how the contacts are set (make or break).
