ANS: An antigen is a foreign molecule that, when introduced into the body, triggers the production of
an antibody by the immune system. The antigens of the ABO blood group are located on the surface of
red blood cell membrane and these are called as antigen A and antigen B. The ABO blood group system
was completely determined by these antigens present on the surface of RBC (red blood cells).

4. ANS: Agglutinins and Agglutinogens are a specific type of antibody or other substance that causes
agglutination. In the blood these are the proteins that can exist on the surface of every red blood cell in
the body.

5. ANS: Agglutination: It is a process by which blood cells clump together when an antibody
corresponding cell surface proteins is introduced. This reaction was taken placed between soluble
antigen and antibody which leads to clumping of antigen and antibody.

6. ANS: His blood group could be B Blood group or AB Blood group.

A Blood group only have antigen A on the surface of RBC

B Blood group only have antigen B on the surface of RBC

AB Blood group can have both A and B antigens on the surface of RBC

O Blood group have neither A nor B antigens on the surface of RBC
