Mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have
mercy.”

today to be united in the Sacrament of Marriage. Increase their faith in You
and each other, and through them bless Your Church with Christian
children. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives
and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
All: Amen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
FIRST READING
Happy the husband of a really good wife: the number of his days will be
doubled.
A perfect wife is the joy of her husband: he will live out the years of his life
in peace.
A good wife is the best of portions, reserved for those who fear the Lord;
Rich or poor, they will be glad of heart, cheerful of face, whatever the
season.
The grace of a wife will charm her husband; her accomplishments will make
him the stronger.
A silent wife is a gift from the Lord; no price can be put on a well-trained
character.
Like the sun rising over the mountains of the Lord, is the beauty of a good
wife in a well-kept house.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalmist: Ms. Sheryl Vasquez
Psalmist: Let our response be: “I will bless the Lord at all times.”
Psalmist: I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise always on my lips; in
the Lord my soul shall make its boast. The humble shall hear and
be glad. My soul will glory in the Lord that the poor may hear
and be glad.
Psalmist: Glorify the Lord with me. Let us praise his name. I sought the Lord
and he answered me; from all my terrors he set me free.
Psalmist: Look toward God and be radiant; let your faces not be abashed.
This poor man called; the Lord heard him and rescued him from
all his distress.
Psalmist: The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who revere him,
to rescue them. Taste and see that the Lord is good. He is happy
who takes refuge in Him.

SECOND READING
Reader: A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a
resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and
can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can
move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to
the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain
nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not
proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps
no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the
truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there
are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes,
the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought
like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways
behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see
face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully
known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these
is love.
5
according to St. Mark.
“From the beginning of creation God made them male and female.
This is why a man must leave his father and mother, and the two become one
body. They are no longer two, therefore, but one body. So then, what God
has united, man must not divide.”
HOMILY
You have come together in this church so that the Lord may seal and
strengthen your love in the presence of the Church. Christ abundantly
blesses this love. He has already consecrated you in baptism and now he
enriches and strengthens you by a special sacrament so that you may assume
the duties of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity. And so, in the
presence of the Church, I ask you to state your intentions.
Neal & Eleanor, have you come here freely and without reservation to give
yourselves to each other in marriage?
Neal & Eleanor, will you love and honour each other as man and wife for
6
the rest of your lives?
Neal & Eleanor, are you willing to accept children lovingly from God and
to raise them as good Christians?
Neal & Eleanor, since it is your intention to enter into marriage, join your
hands and declare your consent before God and His Church.
Neal, do you take Eleanor to be your wife? Do you promise to be true to her
in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love her and honour
her all the days of your life?
You have declared your consent before the Church. May the Lord in his
goodness strengthen your consent and fill you both with his blessings.
What God has joined, men must not divide.
All: Amen.
[Coin & Ring Bearers come forward assisted by the Best Man & Matron of
Honour]
Let us pray. Bless, O Lord, your servants Neal & Eleanor with sufficiency of
material possessions which these coins symbolise so that they may use them
to attain eternal life through Christ, Our Lord.
All: Amen.
7
Priest: Bless, O Lord, these rings,
which we bless in your name, so that they who wear them, keeping faith
with each other in unbroken loyalty, may ever remain at peace with you
according to your will, and may live together always in mutual love
through Christ, Our Lord.
All: Amen.
[Coin and ring bearers return to their seats. The Best Man takes hold of the
rings and takes his place on the groom's side. The Matron of Honour takes
hold of the coins and takes her place on the bride's side. ]
[Priest takes the rings from the Best Man and gives them to Neal & Eleanor]
of my love and loyalty, in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.
my love and loyalty, in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.
[Priest takes the coins from the Matron of Honour and gives them to Neal]

our Christian community. Let us welcome them with happy applause.

fountain of all holiness. Let Your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them
holy so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus
Christ.
Before he was given up to death, the death He freely accepted, He took the
bread and gave You thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to His disciples and
said: “Take this all of you and eat it. This is my body, which will be given up
for you.”
When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again, He gave You thanks and
praise, gave the cup to His disciples and said: “Take this all of you and drink
from it. This is the cup of my blood. The blood of the new and everlasting

forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”
resurrection, we offer You, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We
thank You for counting us worthy to stand in Your presence and serve You.
May all of us who share in the Body and Blood of Christ, be brought
together in unity by the Holy Spirit.
Lord, remember Your Church throughout the world. Make us grow in love,
together with Benedict, our Pope, John, our Bishop, and all the clergy.
Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope
of rising again. Bring them and all the departed into the light of Your
presence.
Have mercy on us all. Make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the
Mother of God, with the Apostles and with all the Saints who have done
Your will throughout the ages. May we praise You in union with them and
give You glory through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through Him, with Him and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory
and Honour is Yours Almighty Father, forever and ever.
