This document analyzes the driving stress on a pre-cast concrete pile. It provides specifications for the pile size and material strengths. It then shows the calculations using a formula to determine the ultimate carrying capacity and stress on the concrete during driving. The calculated driving stress of 26.91 MPa is less than the specified concrete strength of 40 MPa, indicating the pile can withstand the estimated driving stress.

Formula for use with Diesel Hammer:
Ru= [12efEn/ (s+0.5(C1+C2+C3)] x [(Wr+e Wp) / (Wr+Wp)] ---------(I)
Ru = ultimate carrying capacity of pile (ultimate resistance to driving) TO BE CALCULATED
Wr= weight of falling mass 7714 lb
En=Rated energy per blow 75768 lb-ft ef= hammer efficiency 100 % Wp= weight of pile 14458.09313 L = length of pile 826.56 inches. e = coefficient of restitution * 0.4 *[Pile Top Covered by steel plate during driving.] s = set value 0.25 inches. C1= temporary compression allowance for pile head and cap 0.1 C2= temporary compression of pile, in= Ru L/ AE 1.003E-06 X Ru C3= temporary compression allowance for quake of ground 0.1 A= average cross section of pile 189.778176 Sq.inches E= modulus of elasticity for pile material=57000√ f’c 4.34E+06 psi
So, placing the values in equation -I,
3.053E-07 X Ru2 + 0.461 Ru - 909216 =0
Solving the equation above: Ru = 741134.0167 lbs = 3296859.505 N
Stress on concrete during driving(Ru/A) = 26.91 MPa
COMMENTS: AS THE CONCRETE CYLINDRICAL CRUSHING STRNGTH SUGGESTED AS 40 MPa, SO THE DRIVING STRESS IS APPLICABLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR DRIVEN PILE.
