MIS - Group Presentation £ MIS £ 30% Weighting

MIS such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management help

integrate the organization core business processes and business functions and all levels of the

organization. As part of planning and controlling the operations, the below MIS systems help

manage vast amount of information generated by all functions activity, to turn it into valuable data

and apply the knowledge by users across the whole organization, at any managerial level.

In your MIS group approved in Class, and with use of reliable academic sources, such as Journal

Articles and recently published books provide a comprehensive presentation on how ERP, CRM,

EDI and Databases systems functions to integrate and facilitate business operations within the

industry. Pick one of the below topic to conduct your group presentation about.

uhe below are minimum requirements for a presentation to be successful. Group presentations

are expected to:

—c DACKGROUND: Provide the Dackground of your chosen topic that relevant to

organisation that developed the MIS you selected..

—c DEVELOPMENu: Drief Historical Development of the CRM, EDI or ERP System. Provide

some details how the software started from its original concept till today.

—c ERP, CRM, EDI: Define, illustrate and explain what an ERP, CRM or EDI system is. Give

details of how it functions and works with your chosen topic.

—c INPUuS & USERS: illustrate examples of input that go inside this MIS and are later

transformed into Information and Knowledge. What is the source of the Inputs ? Also, list

the Users within the organization that benefit from the System, in the functions and

department.

—c MIS PROCESSES: illustrate briefly the business processes that ERP, CRM and EDI

integrate within any organization that is using it. (e.g. sales and marketing processes,

integrate with HR department and Accounts functionœ and give examples)

—c MIS DENEFIuS and WEAKNESSES: Illustrate and briefly describe 10 generic and

overall benefits of ERP, CRM, or EDI system that companies generally benefit after

purchasing this system. Also list 4 disadvantages.

—c uRENDS: Provide recent research, trends, industry insight from academic sources. And

other magazines about your MIS or industry.

—c REFERENCES: Provide 2 slides of References and bibliography in Harvard style. Each

academic source should be briefly mentioned. At least mentions 4 academic journals.

Each group is to present a printout of the presentation (two slides per A4 page) either Color or

D&W. Cover page of the printed presentation shall include all group students¨ names and last 4

digits of the Student number.

uhe group must also present an MS PowerPoint (*.ppt) file on CD or Memory stick on the same

day the group presents the printout. uhis PowerPoint should be totally identical to the Printed out

version of the presentation, presented on or before the deadline.

An overall group presentation grade will be given out of 100 marks. Another individual student

grade for individual input will also be given out of 100 marks. uhe average of both grades will be

the individual grade, to be weighted towards the final unit grade. Each student is expected to

contribute and present at least 4 full slides throughout the whole presentation.
