1 System Error
Meaning of Error: The OAU is unable to communicate with the Record Application on the DMM
Probable Cause:
# Test Yes No
1 Power-cycle OAU
2 Power-cycle the DMM
3 What Record Application version is running
4 a G2: does the system have RSM Archiving Option?
b Check if system does or does not record video
5 Does DMM have the latest software installed in accordance
with VDR Record Software Upgrade Procedure?
6 G2: does DMM have Ethernet Breakout Interfaces (EBI) and
DMM standoffs installed?
7 OAU com port settings correct in vdrparams.ini file.
If none of the above actions fix the problem, replace DMM and ensure EBI interfaces are installed.

2 Remote Error
Meaning Of Error: Problem reading or writing to the Remote Storage Module (RSM)
NOTE: The Ethernet and USB cables CANNOT both be connect at the same time.
Probable Causes:
1 Data cable problem most likely Ethernet cable connection problem
2 RSM disk may be corrupt
3 RSM power switch may be turned off or power cable has been removed
4 RSM HDD may be dead

1 Network data cable connection is OK
2 Power connections are good
3 G2: RSM functions OK when connected with USB
4 G2: RSM functions when connected to service laptop
5 G2: RSM is seen in the service laptop’s My Computer area
6 G2: RSM HDD was reformatted.
7 G2: Latest software is installed on the DMM.
8 G2: RSM Drivers have been updated on DMM
9 G2: RSM shows as drive G:\ on the DMM.
10 G2: Check the error log for large time changes from GPS
11 G3: Is recording to USB active
12 G3: Is USB formatted as FAT32
13 G3: Reformat USB as FAT32
If the above actions do not fix the problem, replace the RSM.

6 HDD is firmly connected
7 Restart VDR and check drives again
8 Reformat drives AFTER you verify if any secured data
must be saved (check with Captain)
9 Error log “error 1392” – reformat HDD

7 GPS Error
Meaning of Error: VDR has not received specified time/date information
Probable Causes:
1 NMEA Module problem
2 Network data cable problem most likely Ethernet cable connection problem
3 NMEA Module may be faulty
4 vdrparams.ini file may have a GPS source selected in the [NMEA] section which is different
from what the GPS (is now) outputting.
5 GPS source off or faulty
# Test Yes No
1 If Serial Error is also present, then proceed to that section. As GPS
time/date information is received through the NMEA modules, a failure
of the NMEA module will also give a GPS Error.
2 vdrparams.ini setting for time/date in the [NMEA} section match the
GPS output
3 Check the selected GPS source is received by the VDR
4 Check date/time on DMM is correct & matches GPS date/time
5 Check if there are big time/date changes from GPS

11 Mic Error XX
Meaning of Error: Microphone XX Failed it’s Self-Test
Probable Causes:
1 Microphone Cable Faulty
2 Microphone is Faulty
3 Buzzer is Faulty
4 Detection Threshold Setting is too high
5 Audio Module is Faulty
# Test Yes No
1 Actual microphone location using the vdr-cfg.txt file
2 Microphone checked for physical damage
3 Verify Record Application is latest version
4 Switch the Audio Module input to the input of a known good
microphone to verify if it is a microphone or Audio Module problem
5 Perform a microphone test to verify if the buzzer was working
6 Microphone was receiving audio through the AudioConfigSuite
7 Microphone test to calculate the Detection Threshold and compare it
to the value in the vdrparams.ini file
