October 8, 2010
Curated by Lars Leafblad
Principal, KeyStone Search

Pollenites,

Welcome to Pollen volume 20!

For those of you just joining us…a quick recap of just what Pollen is…

“Pollen is a community comprised of civic-minded connectors who share ideas, career and civic
engagement opportunities and peer-to-peer recognition to create positive impact and personal and
professional growth for its members.”

Pollen volume 1 was shared with members on December 4, 2009. We’ve since grown to 1,544
subscribers to this twice monthly e-newsletter and 1,243 members of our Pollen LinkedIn group. Become
member 1,244 by clicking this secure link: (http://www.bit.ly/Pollen-LinkedIn)

If you’re interested in learning more about the roots of Pollen, you can read a post I recently contributed
to the Fast Horse PR blog about where it all began, “Everything I Learned About Networking I Learned in
3rd Grade” (thanks to John Reinan for the invitation to write and to Bob Ingrassia for his editing prowess,
including the title!).

You can read the blog post here: http://bit.ly/Grade3Networking

If someone has forwarded this to you and you’d like to become a full-fledged Pollenite, join us by emailing
larsl-at-keystonesearch.com.

Before we begin our regularly scheduled programming, we’d like to share the results from the Pollen Poll
we conducted in our last issue regarding the MN Governor’s Race. Thanks to the 267 member of Pollen
who participated in this social, non-scientific, survey exercise.

Mark Dayton – 83 votes (31.8%)

Tom Emmer – 41 votes (15.7%)

Other – 7 votes (2.7%)

(6 respondents skipped Question 1)

Question 2: Who do you believe will actually be elected the next Governor of the
State of Minnesota?

Tom Horner – 45 votes (17.2%)
