Lynn Camp-Williamsburg Series History

Series Notes:
*The teams have played every season since 1948.
*The squads recorded matching 20-20 ties in the 1971 and 1972 meetings.
*Williamsburg’s longest streak of victories was 15 straight between 1955 and 1969. The
largest Jacket margin of victory over the Wildcats was 69-0 in 2014.
*Lynn Camp’s longest win streak in the rivalry was a five game span between 1989 and
1993. LCHS’s largest margin of victory was a 67-8 demolition in 2005.
*19 of the 73 series meetings have been decided by a touchdown or less.
*The highest scoring game in series history saw 80 points scored in a 58-22 Lynn Camp
victory on October 24, 1997.
*Williamsburg is 24-10-1 in games hosted by Lynn Camp. The Jackets are 27-10-1 versus
the Wildcats in games played in Williamsburg.

Series History (1980-present):


August 29, 1980: Williamsburg 59, Lynn Camp 6
Williamsburg rushed for 446 yards, including a 199-yard effort and three touchdowns from
Kevin Bowen, to overwhelm Lynn Camp 59-6.

August 28, 1981: Williamsburg 26, Lynn Camp 14


Greg Speicher tossed three touchdown passes as Williamsburg built a 20-0 halftime lead
and held on for a 26-14 win over visiting Lynn Camp.

August 27, 1982: Williamsburg 8, Lynn Camp 0


Keith Gilbert hauled in a 37-yard pass for the game’s only touchdown and intercepted a
fourth quarter Lynn Camp pass inside the Williamsburg five-yard line to key the Jacket win.

September 30, 1983: Lynn Camp 12, Williamsburg 3


Lynn Camp prevailed in a defensive battle with a pair of fourth quarter rushing
touchdowns from Mike Johnson and Wayne Sevier. Williamsburg’s only points came from
a 22-yard field goal by Beth Bates, the first field goal booted by a girl in a KHSAA varsity
contest.

October 5, 1984: Williamsburg 39, Lynn Camp 0


Steve Watson rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while the Jacket defense held
Lynn Camp to 56 total yards in a 39-0 Williamsburg shutout.

October 18, 1985: Williamsburg 48, Lynn Camp 3


Russ Daniels and Byron Smoot each found the end zone three times for Williamsburg in a
48-3 victory. Daniels rushed for 167 yards to lead the Jackets, while Mike Wagoner’s 42-
yard field goal was the lone Wildcat tally.

October 17, 1986: Williamsburg 9, Lynn Camp 7


The Cornett brothers accounted for all of the Jacket points in a hard fought 9-7 victory.
Timmy Cornett rushed 13 yards for a touchdown, while James Cornett added the eventual
game-winning kick on a 19-yard field field goal.

October 16, 1987: Williamsburg 25, Lynn Camp 0


Russ Daniel rushed for 111 yards and the Jacket defense forced five turnovers in a 25-0
WHS triumph. Lynn Camp only managed 40 yards on 31 rushes and finished with 105
yards of total offense.

October 28, 1988: Williamsburg 32, Lynn Camp 8


Williamsburg clinched a playoff spot as Jon Peace rushed for two touchdowns and Mark
Huddleston passed for two more scores. Jerry Proffitt’s 18-yard rush in the final minute
allowed the Wildcats to avoid the shutout.

September 8, 1989: Lynn Camp 14, Williamsburg 8


Lynn Camp only managed five first downs on the evening, but two long Allen Mitchell
scoring passes lifted the Wildcats to the win. A 70-yard pass to Steve Johnson and a 43-
yard strike to David Partin made the difference for LC.

September 7, 1990: Lynn Camp 16, Williamsburg 0


Kevin Disney’s 98-yard rush wrapped up the scoring as the Wildcats blanked Williamsburg.
Freshman Trampas Hollin tallied the other LC touchdown on a 4-yard first quarter plunge.

October 25, 1991: Lynn Camp 51, Williamsburg 8


Craig Kidd returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and it was all Lynn
Camp in a 51-8 Wildcat win. Phillip Prewitt caught two touchdown passes and Trampas
Hollin chipped in two rushing scores.

October 23, 1992: Lynn Camp 42, Williamsburg 8


Trampas Hollin accounted for 123 yards and two scores as Lynn Camp coasted after
building a 27-0 halftime lead. Earl Johnson also scored two touchdowns and the Wildcats
held Williamsburg to 110 yards of total offense.

October 15, 1993: Lynn Camp 36, Williamsburg 14


Trampas Hollin rambled for 183 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns as Lynn
Camp clinched a playoff spot. The Wildcats rushed for 326 yards as four different LC
players gained at least 50 yards.

October 14, 1994: Williamsburg 40, Lynn Camp 0


John Booker rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns while adding a touchdown
reception in a Jacket rout. Chad Price added 82 rush yards, eight tackles, and an
interception as WHS moved to 8-0.

September 22, 1995: Williamsburg 36, Lynn Camp 12


The three-headed monster of Chad Price, Craig Hodges, and John Booker keyed a
Williamsburg rush attack that gained 444 yards. Price gained 212 yards, Hodges 125, and
Booker 72 as the big play Jackets had 15 efforts of 10 yards or longer in the win.

September 26, 1996: Lynn Camp 55, Williamsburg 0


Joe Melton and Will Hollin scored three touchdowns each in the Lynn Camp blowout.
Melton blitzed the WHS defense for 213 rush yards as the Wildcats owned a 468-180 edge
in total offense.

October 24, 1997: Lynn Camp 58, Williamsburg 22


Lynn Camp led 38-8 at the half and 52-8 midway through the third quarter en route to an
easy victory. Quinton Henson, Phillip Cima, and Nick Jackson found the end zone twice
apiece for the Wildcats.

October 23, 1998: Lynn Camp 40, Williamsburg 9


Lynn Camp’s Quinton Henson ran wild with a school single-game record of 327 rush yards
on 29 carries. The Wildcats rang up 528 yards to total offense in the final regular season
contest played at the old Lynn Camp field.

October 29, 1999: Williamsburg 22, Lynn Camp 14


Travis Cox scored all three Jacket touchdowns and rushed for 246 yards on 36 carries as
the Jackets clinched a home playoff game. Cox’s five-yard score on a fourth down play
early in the final quarter snapped a 14-14 tie.

October 27, 2000: Lynn Camp 9, Williamsburg 8


It was Tommy Helton’s night as his third field goal of the game lifted the Wildcats to the
narrow win. Helton made field goals of 33, 44, and 20 yards, the last of which came in the
final seconds. He also added 13 tackles and a blocked punt.

September 15, 2001: Lynn Camp 22, Williamsburg 18


Lynn Camp erased an 18-6 deficit in the final five minutes in a game postponed to
Saturday night following the September 11 terrorist attacks. Clay Mills scored both
Wildcat touchdowns in the fourth quarter as LCHS took advantage of three Jacket
turnovers in a two-plus minute span.

September 20, 2002: Williamsburg 31, Lynn Camp 22


Will Hill returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown to set the tone in Williamsburg’s
31-22 win. Stephen Taylor snared a pair of touchdown passes from James Hendrix for the
Jackets.

October 17, 2003: Lynn Camp 38, Williamsburg 21


Lynn Camp trailed 14-0 at the half, but a dominant ground game and three interceptions
keyed a Wildcat rally. LCHS gained 308 of their 378 rush yards after the break. Dusty
Brock’s 35 carries for 216 yards paced Lynn Camp.

October 15, 2004: Williamsburg 25, Lynn Camp 18


Andy Greer hit on 14 of 22 passes for 250 yards and scored a late rushing touchdown as
Williamsburg improved to 9-0 on the season. Josh Reynolds had 113 rush yards and score
for Lynn Camp.

November 12, 2004: Williamsburg 15, Lynn Camp 12


Extra points made the difference as Williamsburg squeaked out a 15-12 victory in the only
playoff meeting between the schools. A Chase Hamblin point after and a two-point
conversion pass from Andy Greer to Tyler Ayers proved decisive.

October 28, 2005: Lynn Camp 67, Williamsburg 8


Jimmy Chaffin rushed for three touchdowns and added another on a 65-yard interception
return as Lynn Camp rolled. Joe Roskopf tallied three more rushing touchdowns and a
game-high 181 ground yards for the Wildcats, who led 52-8 at intermission.

October 27, 2006: Williamsburg 35, Lynn Camp 20


Thomas Frazier hit on 14 of 27 passes for 251 yards and also contributed 61 rush yards for
Williamsburg. Frazier’s 68-yard third quarter touchdown pass to Chase Hamblin opened
up some breathing room for WHS.
October 19, 2007: Williamsburg 40, Lynn Camp 32
Williamsburg’s passing connection of Ryan Moses to Aaron Brock hooked up for four
touchdowns in a high scoring Jacket victory. Lynn Camp received long touchdown rushes
of 71, 78, and 20 yards from Jonah Mitchell, but was guilty of eight turnovers.

October 24, 2008: Williamsburg 28, Lynn Camp 12


Ed Lawson gained 201 rush yards and scored all four Williamsburg touchdowns in a 28-12
Jacket win that clinched a district title. Aaron Brock added three catches for 76 yards for
the Jackets.

October 17, 2009: Williamsburg 26, Lynn Camp 12


Heavy rain forced the game to be moved to a Saturday afternoon at Union College, but
Ryan Moses threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more. The Jacket defense
forced four turnovers in wet conditions.

October 15, 2010: Williamsburg 20, Lynn Camp 0


Williamsburg notched the school’s first shutout in over four years by blanking Lynn Camp.
Logan Hamblin keyed the Jacket offense with 177 pass yards and 116 rush yards.

October 21, 2011: Williamsburg 48, Lynn Camp 7


Dalton Sizemore completed 22 of 32 pass attempts for 363 yards and four touchdowns in
Williamsburg’s rout of winless Lynn Camp. Corey Shelton grabbed five of those passes for
a game-high 104 receiving yards.

October 19, 2012: Williamsburg 49, Lynn Camp 6


Jefferson Patrick and Corey Shelton notched two touchdowns each as Williamsburg
cruised to the easy win. The efficient Jackets averaged nearly ten yards per rush with 265
ground yards on only 29 carries.

October 25, 2013: Williamsburg 53, Lynn Camp 0


Dalton Sizemore hit on 11 of 18 passes for 239 yards and three scores for eventual state
finalist Williamsburg. Sizemore also rushed for a pair of scores. Jefferson Patrick also
found the end zone twice for the Jackets.

October 24, 2014: Williamsburg 69, Lynn Camp 0


Corey Shelton caught a pair of touchdown passes and also returned an interception 40
yards for a score. Seven different Jackets scored touchdowns as Chase Lowrie and Fred
Massey tallied two six-pointers each for the eventual state runners-up.
October 23, 2015: Williamsburg 53, Lynn Camp 8
Austin Huskey rushed for 156 yards and two scores on only seven carries for the Jackets.
Alec Poore completed six of eight passes for 122 yards while rushing and passing for two
touchdowns each.

October 21, 2016: Williamsburg 52, Lynn Camp 7


Alec Poore threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns in a Williamsburg romp. Darrell
White rushed for two scores and chipped in a touchdown reception for the Jackets. WHS’s
Dalton Ponder also reached the end zone twice.

October 20, 2017: Williamsburg 40, Lynn Camp 32


Lynn Camp led 24-14 in the third period, but Williamsburg struck for the next 26 points
behind Alec Poore and Dalton Ponder. Ponder rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
Poore hit on 14 of 23 passes for 191 yards and three scores. Lynn Camp, which rushed for
322 yards on the evening, received 180 ground yards and three touchdowns on 22 tries
from Dalton Cook.

Notable Games (1950-1979):


October 27, 1950: Lynn Camp 28, Williamsburg 0
The Wildcats led 21-0 at halftime and cruised to the shutout victory to clinch the
Cumberland Valley Conference’s “A” Division and wrap up an unbeaten regular season.

October 23, 1964: Williamsburg 1, Lynn Camp 0 (forfeit)


A forfeit by short-handed Lynn Camp ensured Williamsburg’s first district championship.

October 19, 1973: Lynn Camp 6, Williamsburg 0


Leland Carnes’ short plunge the first quarter accounted for the game’s only points as Lynn
Camp snapped a 17-year series winless streak in a penalty-plagued affair. The teams
accounted for over 30 infractions and 315 penalty yards.
