Holy Trinity Sunday, 31st May 014

There is a priest friend of mine, whose mother I address as mom. Among the many of his friends I
understand him better because I know his mother. Many of things why he does or says, I am able to
understand through his mother. And moreover he too has a special regard for me because I call his
mother as mom. Whenever I am in town I make it a point to definetly meet her and spend some
time with her. And this priest friend mind respects for this.

But the greatest of all friend for you and me is Jesus. For says I know longer call you slaves but I call
your friends because a slave doesn’t know what his master is doing but friend does.

And remember how much he loved his mother and at his moment of his life, he entrusts his mother
to John, saying son behold your mother and that very moment the beloved disciple took her home.

How much delighted he be beause of John love for his mother. My dear brothers and sisters the
incident I narrated to you in the beginning about my friend and his mother. How much more will this
can be applied in regard to our relationship with Jesus and his mother.

Pope Francis says if you don’t know the mother then he you won’t the son

How true Holy Father says, if I don’t know the mother I don’t know the son.

I don’t know about you all but many times I have met people who have dislike for mother Mary.
They have some sort of …..for Rosary. They start pointing to us catholics that we worship Mary.

Any amount of our efforts to make them understand that we don’t worship Mary but revere her
doesn’t seems to convince them. Initially I too was tempted to argue with them but later I realised
that doesn’t take us any further. Because of most of them are indoctrinated in that way.

I then relaised that the best way to tell about Mary is to share my own experience of Mary.

Few years there was Killing of many Christian in Kandhmal, the worst presecution against Christians
in India has ever seen. A year after this ugly incident I was send there to Assess and study on the
livelihood of Christian communities after one year of the riots.

I was leading the team in which I was the only Catholic and rest were pastors for non- catholic
churches. I used you join them for prayers and after I use to pray my Rosary alone. They didn’t like
it. Although they didn’t want to say anything to me. They respected me but they strongly disliked
me for praying Rosary. This went on for many days. One day I felt It was right to speak out. They
were frank enough to express their …. For Mary and dislike for Rosary.

I said I don’t want to agrue with you and prove that you all wrong, but I just want to share my
experience of Mary. I told them role Mary plays in life and power of Rosary in my life. They were
quite attentive to my sharing, at the end both of them wanted to have Rosary.

When we pray with Mary she journeys with us, she lead us close to Jesus. She doesn’t take us away
from Jesus but rather she helps us to have a deeper relationship with Jesus.
A recently I met a young man not a Baptized Christian. He started following Christ, one early
morning he sees a woman with a child and she holding a book and giving to him, ask him to read.

He opened he realise the book is Bible, he realised that it was our lady who came to meet him.

Mary helps to do what her son says, she leads us to Him.

In todays Gospel we find Mary on journey. She doesn’t hesistate but fastly goes to take care of
Elizabeth. She is not with pride but with humility, she is not in lazyiness but she moves in swiftness.

In fact her journey has began, we will never find her sitting idle. She again makes journey to
bethlem, a difficult Journey they she undergoes labour pain they could find a room to stay. Pope
Benedict XVI says Mary is called blessed because she through the eyes of faith saw what God is
going to accomplish in her life. Even though the situations at raised many questions but she
continued to see life through eyes if faith.

Again we find her journey 3 days back to Jersusalem in search of her son.

And finally she is on very painful journey to Calvary with her son.

She mother to us and we cant afford not asking Mary to walk with us, or else I life might end up in
Misery. She Jesus parting gift us, as mother. She intercedes for us.
