Background
USINO BUNDI (formerly known as Upper Ramu) is one of the district in Madang Province
Papua New Guinea. Usino Bundi is sharing border with Eastern Highlands Province, Morobe
Province, Chimbu Province and Jiwaka Province. It is consist of three local level
Government council area and they are Gama local level Government, Bundi local level
Government and the largest is Usino local level Government. The main district Headquarter
is in Walium Station the largest rural station in Madang Province. Since world war two it has
house the battle of Dumpu and the battle of Faita near the Brahman Mission Station.
Education
Usino Bundi has experience downfall in illiteracy rate credit to District Education Program
Manager Mr Jaffrey Lamech. Since Mr Lamech took office the district has experience much
change to education. Influx of student goes to school because of many new classrooms build.
Adult also have adult literacy school in Kouye elementary. Dropout student has second
change because there were many newly build high schools such as Ramu and Sausi to cater
for them. The senior Secondary of Catholic is located in Brahman near the border of Eastern
Highlands. Non-Government Organisation such as World vision is the major contributor to
the community project and also educates people in ways in which can change lifestyle such
as catering courses, sewing and building farms.
Services
Services such as Health, Education, Agriculture and road are always priority of every elected
member elected that is representing district. Electricity is major problem. The Walium station
power is supply by PNG power from Ramu Hydro. The first power supply to go out of
district is from Waliun station to Usino station (formerly a colonial outpost) was initiative of
former Usino Bundi MP Samson Malcolm Kuli. Road from Usino Junction to Yamagi is seal
by People Republic of China with some of the most expensive bridge in Papua New Guinea
as a gift from China to People of Usino Bundi.
